💼🌿🧘‍♀️Could a shorter workweek improve our health, increase company productivity and help us meet environmental targets? 🪧The traditional five-day workweek came about in the early 20th century when unions advocated reducing the six-day workweek. In a move towards a healthier, more sustainable work-life balance that can meet modern society's needs, organisations like @4dayweek_global are now advocating for a shorter work week. 🇮🇪Dr Orla Kelly @UCDSocialPWJ led the Irish component of the first @4dayweek_global coordinated international trial. Companies offered employees 100% of their pay for 80% of their time, with the proviso they continue to achieve 100% of organisational goals. The research demonstrated that worktime reduction not only benefits employees, but the companies as well. It found that the four-day week resulted in a significant increase in physical and mental health, life satisfaction and work-life balance, with reduced sleep problems, anxiety, burnout and carbon footprint.
