We don't make promises to God, but he has made a promise to us (believers). And he is ever faithful! 1 John 2:25 - "And this is the promise that he made to us—eternal life."

Jay Dyer saying Protestant theology ultimately has no ontological change to the person who holds it is dishonest. Repentance, living a life where your works prove your faith, putting to death the passions are all ontological changes.

@MikeWingerii Your theology is modern evangelicalism. Who are you to criticize another Protestants interpretative tradition?

I’ve redone this post because I think I came off too strong yesterday. To Johnny and Elizabeth Enlow, First, thank you for the ways you are helping call for positive change. Second, TPT and Simmons are far worse than you have realized and I respect you saying you are looking into it but would appreciate it if you didn’t go on to frame the issues like Brian didn’t dot an i or cross a t. The issues with TPT are well documented for years and with numerous respected Christian scholars already weighing in YEARS ago on my channel. Further, Brian has lied through his teeth about his past, his credentials, his “angel,” his translating process, his spiritual experiences, and has been shown to have committed large scale copy-paste behavior from other works while pretending he has insights from God. It’s so bad. And he definitely does embed bad theology into the text. But you don’t even need to see that to know TPT is an affront to Scripture. You should find that he is CHANGING the meaning of the Bible based on deception. That alone is enough.

@poperespecter1 How odd that the GOA didn’t cite a single Church Father, council, or saint to show the Church believes tongues is a “prayer language”. Oh wait they NEVER did. No one gives a shit what some liberal ecumenist puts on the GOA website. They don’t speak for the entire EO.

I am not a fan of the charismatic movement but Orthodoxy literally embraced Hesychasm in the 14th century which many scholars (e.g. Diarmaid MacCulloch, Petro B.T. Bilaniuk, etc) think was heavily influenced by Hindu practices.

St Basil was a bishop who taught laypeople to obey the councils of the church, which James White doesn’t do. White is the archetypal “sovereign citizen” Christian. “I read the Bible MY way!” “Nicaea 2 isn’t binding on me!” “Well in MY reading of the Bible…” Blah blah blah
𝔚𝔥𝔦𝔱𝔢𝔅𝔢𝔞𝔯𝔡@HwsEleutheroi

A few quotes from Basil: The hearers taught in the Scriptures ought to test what is said by teachers and accept that which agrees with the Scriptures but reject that which is foreign. (Basil, Moralia, 72:1) If custom is to be taken in proof of what is right, then it is certainly competent for me to put forward on my side the custom which obtains here. If they reject this, we are clearly not bound to follow them. Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. (Basil, Ep. ad Eustathius, NPNF II, 8:229) We ought carefully to examine whether the doctrine offered us is conformable to Scripture, and if not, to reject it. Nothing must be added to the inspired words of God; all that is outside Scripture is not of faith, but is sin. (Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, Second Series: Prolegomena, 2. Work, 3. Ascetic (iii).) Be careful when you see counter citations, such as Basil, Epistle 51.2, where he writes, "To refuse to follow the Fathers, not holding their declaration of more authority than one's own opinion, is conduct worthy of blame, as being brimful of self-sufficiency." The context were individuals who were uncomfortable using the term homoousios. This was written in 370, so the memory of Ariminum and Sirmium was still fresh. All that Basil said must be taken into account to represent him fairly. Fair Protestants can allow him to be the product of his time. RCs and EOs will be forced to make him speak as they speak.

A lot of "classical" Reformed bros on here are complaining about things Jay said about Calvinism in his interview with Tucker But I don't see any of them making their own YouTube platforms, doing debates or getting on major podcasts. All they do is complain in their twitter and discord bubbles. I personally think it's cuz they're all in conservative retreatist denominations, and that the retreatist mindset extends even to how they interact online.

No, sir. YOU are responsible for proving that YOUR church agrees with the early church. It isn't MY responsibility to prove that ANY group agrees with the early church. Our only job is to agree with the early church ourselves. Even if Eastern Orthodoxy were true, it wouldn't change the fact that there are many places on this earth, such as China (1.4 billion people), which have no apostolic churches. But everyone still needs to believe the truth to be saved.
Dr. John Paul Danger@Johnpaulmcrae83

And the true Church? Please present it. Further, and not to rebuke or contradict St. Vincent, since he is a Church Father...but at what point in Church history did any Church Father ever state that all teaching and Truth spirates from one Holy Father? I don't even necessarily disagree with St. Vincent...but I would not apply what he has said to my own understanding and my own interpretation. That would be fool hardy and subjective. Which is stupid.

Anytime an ortho bro talks about Protestants, one of three things happens 1. They straw man Protestant beliefs 2. They lie 3. They prove that they know nothing about Protestant beliefs.

Can you see a pattern? Church Fathers: We are Guilty and Deserve God's Wrath. Christ the Innocent One steps in and Bears our Punishment so as to set us free from Punishment OrthoBros: That's not Penal Substitution, it's Ransom and Recapitulation Church Fathers: Christ organized His Church with an Episcopal Government that has a single Head at the top, the successor to Peter in the Roman bishopric, and this will last until the end of time. OrthoBros: That's not Vatican 1; its just saying we have a universal primate. That can be Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, or even the bishop of Corinth, if the circumstances call for it. All are Peter, all are commissioned. Church Fathers: The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, because akin to the Father as unbegotten, and the Son as begotten, so the Spirit proceeds from both. OrthoBros: That's not the Filioque. That is eternal manifestation, a completely disconnected concept from hypostatic origination. Orthodox Council: We declare that the Holy Scripture is forbidden to be read in the vulgar tongue by all Orthodox Christians, for just as babies can't eat tough meat, so also not all Orthodox Christians can read the Bible in their own language. OrthoBros: This forbids no one from reading the Bible. It just means that you gotta know how to read the Bible. and so on and so forth

If someone insists on justifying themselves to Fod by their obedience and rejects the gospel time and time again, it’s probably time to just leave them to their own destruction. It’s our job to plant the seeds but it’s Gods job to give the growth. He’ll save whom He wants
