“People only see the success, but they don’t see the hard work behind it.” - @Nadoziechiamaka, the 3-time @CAF_Online ‘Golden Gloves 🧤’ winner, talks to me for The @Guardian.

Does the @OfficialAPCNg @NigeriaGov think #Nigerians want to keep suffering? And that they are not fed up of those responsible for their intense suffering?

English

I’ve met a few world-famous people and never lacked words for them. Winnie Mandela-Madikizela is the only one that left me dumbstruck. When I met her, by chance, in the lobby of a Jo’burg hotel in 1996. I didn’t know what to say to her. She was miffed that I was just gawping without a word. “Why are you just staring at me?” 😆🤦🏾♂️ I was overwhelmed. Warts and all, she was a great woman. Watch this @netflix documentary.

@Iam_agt @theplayzonee You’ll have to listen to the podcast to find out, don’t you?

“What @Osasuo represents is something rarer; a willingness to ask difficult questions and stay with them, even when the answers are inconvenient.” - the @theplayzonee 🙏🏾🙂

@gotostof1 @TheIFAB @FIFAcom @CAF_Online Hmmmmmm! I’d rather not comment. And not for a lack of something to say.
English

@osasuo @TheIFAB @FIFAcom @CAF_Online Le360 is raising a legitimate question regarding the discrepancy in response times between governing bodies. Specifically, it highlights how FIFA and IFAB acted promptly in their respective case, while CAF took over two months to officially declare Morocco as the AFCON winner.
English

Only @TheIFAB and @FIFAcom can change The Laws of the Game, as they have done. @CAF_Online CANNOT do that. Can we, as journalists, be factual and accurate about that, at least?

CAN 2025: comment l’IFAB et la FIFA ont répondu là où la CAF a tardé sport.le360.ma/football/can/c…
English

@Bihi_007 @TheIFAB @FIFAcom @CAF_Online You’re speaking to me, so who is being referred to as “you”? In all of this, I hope the madness I have seen on social media, and the racist comments I’ve been at the end of, since January 18th, will dissipate, as reason takes hold of people’s senses once again - I hope.
English

You, in the general sense, not you personally
The point remains: criticising an article without reading it carefully, confusing a lacuna with stricter sanctions, and then missing the generic “you” does make the discussion rather unnecessarily difficult
These are basic distinctions, not advanced jurisprudence
English

I won’t bother talking about the CAF regulations. It’s not worth the hassle and the unavoidable insults that will follow from your compatriots. The laws of the game are supreme and it’s good that they are now unequivocal on the matter. They supersede tournament regulations, which have not been properly interpreted on social media!
English

The AFCON final did not expose a total lack of sanctions. CAF regulations already sanction a team that leaves the pitch with defeat by forfeit
What IFAB and FIFA have done is not merely address a lacuna, but tighten the Laws of the Game even further: not only against those who leave the pitch, but also against any person who incites such a walk-off
So yes, the IFAB change was right
It simply confirms the point: the law had to protect the game from abandonment, CAF already had a regulation, and the article had a point
English

@Bihi_007 @TheIFAB @FIFAcom @CAF_Online Football games are run by THE LAWS OF THE GAME. It is because of the clear lacuna in the law, exposed by the AFCON final, that the IFAB change was made. And rightly so.
English

Rather unfortunate, really, that a journalist should demand factual accuracy while not taking the modest precaution of reading the article he is correcting
CAF cannot change the Laws of the Game. Nobody said it could
The article criticised CAF’s handling of its own competition regulations, and noted that IFAB and FIFA have since dealt with the broader issue
A fine little detail, had one made it beyond the headline
English

@Prof822714 @BabatundeKoiki @theplayzonee Corruption is a pan-Nigerian problem. It’s intellectually dishonest to tribalise this. I won’t be a part of that.
English

@osasuo @BabatundeKoiki @theplayzonee Buhari - destroys country
Malami- destroys judiciary
Hadi Siraki- destroys air Nigeria
Bello- loots AGF funds
Bashir Ahmad - destroys presidency
Mele kyari - destroys NNPC
We could go on and on. Still everyone wants to play nice

@BabatundeKoiki @Prof822714 @theplayzonee I have to agree with your remark. The comment was tribalistic and can’t be tolerated at all. Disagree on the issues, and with facts only, please. Ad hominem attacks are a no-no.
English

@Prof822714 @theplayzonee @osasuo This is an unfortunate comment with no basis in fact. Dikko is a quantity surveyor and Gusau is an accountant. People in these professions do NOT have single digit IQs.
English

@osasuo And in Ghana , they are doing everything possible to allow the President of the FA to go for a 3rd term. Nothing to show for the 6 years he's been around

Democracy in football is dead. “Praise and worship” is the norm. 😏

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe held a meeting on Wednesday 29 April 2026, in Vancouver Canada on the eve of the 76 FIFA Congress with the 54 CAF Member Associations. The CAF Member Associations unanimously agreed to support Gianni Infantino to be re-elected as President of FIFA for the period 2027-2031.

@StanChartNG I have explained the situation in no uncertain terms: Your customer service agents in India and Asia cannot hear me. The phone lines are not clear!
English

@osasuo We are here to help you. Kindly request you to elaborate the query in detail via DM for us to understand the issue and assist you more effectively. Thank you. ~AR
English

If you compel us, from Nigeria, to deal with customer service agents in India and other parts of Asia, @StanChartNG, do ensure that your phone connections to them work! I have called THREE times today and none of your agents can hear me. 😐🤦🏾♂️

What happened in #GoldersGreen is horrible and unacceptable. What is happening in #Gaza and #Lebanon is horrible and unacceptable too.
