Western civilization has collapsed before. But a few scholars preserved the ideas that once made Rome great. They made a backup, and it did eventually come all the way back. It just took one thousand years.

And then Khrushchev gave Port Arthur to the Chinese for literally no reason. That man was such a catastrophe. Even Molotov was furious with him for doing that. And of course the Chinese became hostile a few years later

Well, I honestly don’t know what else there is left to say when, in the fifth year of the Kremlin’s war to take Kyiv in three days, oil refineries are burning daily in the Urals and air raid sirens are roaring in western Siberia — and this has become routine background noise in the news cycle. Russia has ultimately failed in its attempt to break Ukraine, and now it is slowly but inexorably losing the war.

@Rickbrick75 People should proceed with extreme caution when drawing conclusions about the war. Just because it's not on your X feed does not mean it's not being deployed. The same goes for the sheer amount of Rus FPV drone strikes on UA soldiers. This is an information/narrative war.

Did the Russian Lancet just fall off a cliff for some reason? They were terrifyingly effective in 2023-2024, but I don't hear anything about them anymore in 2025-2026. Am I just missing something or did Ukraine come up with a countermeasure? Did Russia lose production capacity?

Russian forces have largely completed their withdrawal from the salient stretching from Andriivka to Yehorivka in the Pokrovs'ke direction, which was initiated some time around February 12 due to the risk of encirclement from the localised Ukrainian counteroffensive. As such, Ukrainian forces were able to recapture Andriivka, Ostapivske, and Nechaivka, have likely cleared Danylivka (still requires further confirmation), and are now fighting for Yehorivka. This action by the Russians was pre-planned, and has been expected to take place for some time. These were some of the last remaining lightly-manned areas of the Pokrovs'ke direction, meaning that from now on, practically all Ukrainian attacks will take place in much more fortified and consolidated areas, which is already resulting in a sharp increase in Ukrainian casualties. Additionally, once this withdrawal is fully completed, the line of contact will be significantly shortened, simplifying Russia's defensive operation as well as future stabilising counterattacks.

@squatsons The quality of the strikes is still subpar to those of ukrainian strikes. But it is still very worrysome for ukraine that russia is catching up in long range drone warfare. Unlike Russia, Ukraine cant tank these long range drone hits

BREAKING: The ICBM fired at Ukraine today was a RS-26 “Rubezh.” It’s a mobile-ground ballistic missile system derived from the RS-24 “Yars.” First tested in 2012, it has a range of more than 6000 km and can carry multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRVs).

@wartranslated Beg to differ. Nukes are indeed very practical for the reason of forcing Ukraine to surrender. Thinking that they wont change a thing and dont serve any practical purpose is insane. Thats what Japan thought, at least

I would disagree with many here who claim that Western missile strikes on Russian territory wouldn’t lead to escalation or even a nuclear strike. It’s important to remember, as one now-deceased Russian opposition figure said, that Putin is "f@cked in the head"—completely unhinged. Only someone f@cked in the head could start a war like this on completely fabricated grounds, keep it going by throwing soldiers into trenches like meat, and simultaneously talk about increasing the birth rate. We’re dealing with an old man deeply afflicted by schizophrenia, conspiracy thinking, and isolation—25 years of power have utterly rotted his brain, worse than brain worms. He might use nuclear weapons even if there’s no practical reason for it—and indeed, there isn’t any—because to force Ukraine into surrender, he would have to kill every last Ukrainian. That said, giving in to this butcher, as the pants-wetting Tucker Carlsons and Jeremy Corbyns suggest, has long been out of the question. This strategy of appeasement, dating back to the 2000s, is precisely what has brought us to where we are today.
