The crypto industry's biggest threat won't disappear overnight. Unlike every major crisis before it, quantum computing isn't a market cycle. Everyone's focused on price action. No one's talking about the quantum threat. Here's what they're not telling you. Every blockchain you know and love relies on cryptography designed decades ago. The entire system depends on mathematical problems that are practically impossible for today's computers to solve. Quantum computing changes that equation. Traditional cryptography: • Protects trillions of dollars in digital assets • Has secured the internet for decades • Was never designed for the quantum era Think I'm exaggerating? Google recently performed a quantum calculation in around 200 seconds that would take one of today's fastest supercomputers an estimated 10,000 years. Here's what keeps me up at night: No one knows exactly when Q-Day arrives. Upgrading the world's cryptography will take years. Most of the industry still isn't preparing for it. Most founders are focused on token launches, fundraising, and the next narrative. Few understand cryptography. Even fewer are thinking about quantum. But here's the real twist. This isn't just a security problem. It's a future-proofing problem. The next decade will separate two kinds of blockchains: • Those built for the quantum era. • Those trying to catch up. Choose wisely.

5️⃣ reasons every chain's post-quantum migration is harder than it sounds: 1️⃣ The exposed-key problem. On today's chains, every time you send a transaction, your public key is revealed and recorded on-chain forever. A quantum computer can reverse that public key into your private key, the key that controls the funds. Roughly 6.9 million BTC already sit in addresses like this. Even if a chain upgrades tomorrow, everything already exposed stays exposed. 2️⃣ The coordination problem. Wallets, validators, exchanges and users all have to move, and every user has to act. The workaround, opt-in migration, avoids a hard fork but means the slowest users stay exposed the longest. 3️⃣ The size problem. Post-quantum signatures run roughly 30x larger than the ones securing validator consensus today. Blocks grow, verification slows, and networks need entirely new compression engines just to restore current performance. 4️⃣ The aggregation problem. The mechanism compressing thousands of validator signatures into one has no post-quantum equivalent. It has to be rebuilt from scratch, and the replacements are still in development. 5️⃣ The end-date problem. No chain has set a date for when classical signatures stop being accepted. And nobody has answered the hardest question: what happens to the coins nobody migrates. Revoke them, or leave them as permanent quantum honeypots. Building post-quantum from the start avoids all five. No exposed classical history, no opt-in migration to shepherd, no aggregation engine to rebuild, no end date to negotiate. The hardest part of migrating is not the cryptography. It is everything around it. Naoris doesn't need to migrate. Post-quantum was the starting point, ML-DSA-87 at the protocol level, across transactions and validator communication alike. We're merely at the beginning of a Post-Quantum World.

Less than 7% of the world has invested in crypto. Less than 0.1% understands the implications of quantum computing for digital systems. Both numbers will change. They will not change at the same pace. Crypto adoption grew because people understood that the financial system had a trust problem. Blockchain offered a programmable, transparent alternative. The narrative was accessible. Quantum adoption is different. The urgency is invisible until it is not. The threat does not announce itself. The cryptography underneath most digital systems simply stops being sound, and most people will not understand why until something breaks. When AI met the world, it reshaped industries in under five years. When quantum computing meets cryptography, the window for preparation is much shorter than most people think. And unlike AI, quantum does not create new capabilities for everyone. It removes the protections everyone already relies on. Crypto changed finance. Quantum will change what finance runs on.

.@Cloudflare just settled the post-quantum algorithm debate (for now). Their engineers reviewed all nine post-quantum signature schemes NIST is evaluating next. FN-DSA, SQIsign, MAYO, HAWK, UOV, all of them. The verdict: none arrive in time. → FN-DSA: not widely available before 2033 → Multivariate schemes: around 2034 → SQIsign: closer to 2035 Their conclusion, in their own words: ML-DSA is available today, and it will have to do. ML-DSA is the lattice-based signature algorithm NIST standardized as FIPS 204 after an eight-year open international competition. It replaces ECDSA and RSA, the schemes a quantum computer running Shor's algorithm breaks outright. And the detail most people will miss: deploying in 2034 to beat a 2035 deadline does not work. Any real system needs years of running classical and post-quantum signatures side by side, and that dual window is itself an attack surface. Downgrade attacks target exactly that gap. The migration has to start years before the deadline. That is why Cloudflare set its own at 2029. This is the exact analysis behind Naoris. Every transaction on our post-quantum blockchain is authorized with ML-DSA-87 (FIPS 204), the highest parameter set the standard defines, NIST Level 5, enforced at the protocol layer. No classical signatures to phase out. No dual window to defend. No downgrade path to attack. The algorithm question is settled. What separates projects now is deployment. Onwards. The United Kingdom has entered the Quantum conversation. The UK just announced the world's first national quantum standards network. This sits inside a broader £2 billion quantum investment programme, one of the largest national commitments to quantum technology anywhere in the world. Standards might sound like a procedural step. It is not. National standards are how a technology moves from research into deployment. From labs into products. From experiments into critical infrastructure. A national standards network means the UK is treating quantum as infrastructure, not a science project. The programme includes: ✅ Advanced procurement of large-scale quantum computers. ✅ A dedicated programme for quantum networking, with £125m committed. ✅ Quantum sensing, computing, skills and infrastructure funded together as a national system. Countries that build the standards frameworks and the industrial base for quantum will have a structural advantage over those that do not. The UK just made a serious bet. The quantum era is being built at the national policy level now.

As I’ve been saying, if crypto is not quantum-safe within the next few years, it is game over for a large part of the industry. Not because quantum breaks “crypto” as an idea, but because it breaks the ownership assumptions underneath it. Wallets. Signatures. Custody. Bridges. Exchanges. Long-lived assets. The entire digital asset stack still relies heavily on cryptography built for a classical computing world, including elliptic curve systems that trace back to the 1980s. Quantum changes that foundation. Now @Reuters is covering what many still want to treat as a future issue. It is not future. The migration has to happen before the threat becomes practical, because once public keys are exposed and quantum capability arrives, there is no clean reset button. Migration 🆚 building post-quantum from the start: @ethereum is one of the most sophisticated engineering projects in the world. And it is facing a hard problem. Ethereum's push toward post-quantum cryptography is a serious, well-resourced effort. But upgrading a live global system that processes millions of transactions a day means doing several things at the same time: - Coordinating change across wallets, validators, exchanges and users who did not all sign up for a migration. - Modifying both the execution layer (where transactions run) and the consensus layer (how validators agree) without breaking compatibility. - Preserving the ability for existing applications to keep working while the underlying cryptography changes. None of those problems are impossible. But they take years. And during those years, the chain continues operating on cryptographic assumptions it is actively trying to replace. Every block that gets added during the migration window is a block signed under assumptions that will need to be superseded. That is not a criticism of Ethereum. It is the structural reality of upgrading any live system at this scale. Naoris approaches this from a different angle entirely. Because Naoris was built with post-quantum cryptography from genesis, there is no migration to coordinate. The algorithms used from the first block are the algorithms designed for the post-quantum world. There is no transition window, no phased retrofit, no period of operating under assumptions the chain is trying to leave behind. This is not a comment on whether Ethereum's approach is right or wrong. It is a comment on timing. The difference is time. And in this context, time is the variable that directly increases risk.

But the most important line is this: Federal agencies are being directed to transition critical systems to post-quantum cryptography by 2031, while NIST is moving even faster, targeting the end of next year. Read that again. The institution responsible for standardizing post-quantum cryptography is not waiting for Q-Day. Neither should blockchain. The world’s most powerful governments are preparing because they understand what is at stake: • Fault-tolerant quantum capability targeted by 2028 • $2B+ in federal incentives flowing into quantum companies • Quantum sensing, networking, algorithms, manufacturing, and supply chains becoming national priorities • Critical systems being pushed toward post-quantum cryptography before the threat fully arrives • Digital sovereignty becoming a cryptographic race This is the Great Quantum Awakening.
