Different budgets. One shared realisation: quantum capability is becoming economic, scientific and geopolitical power. The upside is enormous, but so is the cryptographic exposure. The future of blockchain, finance, communications and every industry built on public-key cryptography must become post-quantum within the next two years. Migration takes time. Forced sunsets and recovery mechanisms are the price of building on ECDSA in a post-quantum world. Bitcoin is now doing the hard work other chains will eventually have to do too. Worth remembering some networks never needed the five year clock because they launched quantum-safe from day one.

🚨 NEW: A new Bitcoin proposal is now aimed at protecting vulnerable wallets. BIP-361 would: • Stop new BTC from being sent to quantum-vulnerable addresses. • Sunset legacy signatures after a five-year transition period. • Potentially introduce a recovery mechanism for users who miss the migration.
