A very big problem and the blame finger can be exclusively pointed at the funding model of news coverage in the US. Why hold those people accountable that pay the bills?

I visited Julian #Assange in prison. He has been ill, but his courage is astonishing. He is locked up for up to 23 hours. Let no one doubt he is a political prisoner, fraudulent events in Sweden included. His crime is truthful journalism. Shame on those who feign otherwise.

So many untold stories go under the radar of mainstream media. Positioning local and inclusive news front and center is needed more than ever right now. It starts with opening up alternative funding and educating the public on the need to ensure that these stories are heard.

@dondreytaylor The paid people are usual introduced as “an MSNBC contributor” or a “CNN political analyst” whereas I am just Jay from NYU.

Recently I learned that many people believe if you appear on a TV news show as a guest, you are paid for your work. Not so. I have been on MSNBC, NBC, CNN, PBS, CBC, Al Jazeera and others and never made a dime. People with contracts to appear exclusively on one network are paid.

Suggestion to aspiring journalists: "When telling the truth pisses off your friends, get better friends. Never beat the drum and lie to your audience."

Do you believe the work of Wikileaks and Julian Assange should be regarded as revered journalism/press that should be protected?

This man is a son, a father, a brother. He has won dozens of journalism awards. He's been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize every year since 2010. Powerful actors, including CIA, are engaged in a sophisticated effort to dehumanise, delegitimize and imprison him. #ProtectJulian

Ecuador should be ashamed of themselves for this. It’s a dark day for journalism.

Most consumers will prioritize usability over ideals. If you want your ideals adopted, build them natively into usable products.
