1/ Since Mithril’s January alpha release, we’ve been heads-down. Today it moves to beta. Mithril is faster, more capable, and now sources blocks directly from Turbine/Repair through Lightbringer, our new path to block data without RPC providers. github.com/Overclock-Vali…

12/ Beyond that, our roadmap includes pre-confirmed block support, especially for simulation, plus continued performance and RPC polish. Because Mithril can run on lighter hardware than a full RPC node, we believe it could help power easy agent-driven setups that act on-chain.

@dev_jodee @OverclockSol Sorry this might be a dumb question … but is this actually client diversity as it isn’t block building? Isnt it more just block verification? Or am I missing something

@OverclockSol @golang @7LayerMagik Does this mean anyone can become a validator? And get paid in Solana? I want to understand the incentive for this. I have a powerful PC basically doing nothing.

1/ Two years ago, we set out to build a full node that could verify Solana Mainnet on modest hardware and home internet, making decentralization accessible. Today we're releasing the Alpha version of Mithril, our Solana full node client in @golang, and it can do exactly that.

For now we aren't working on a validator but it sounds like Alpenglow will make it easier for us to eventually transition to that potentially. I think some have mentioned that the hardware requirements for Solana validators might go down with Alpenglow due to less fork management overhead. @bw_solana @toly would know

Solana just solved blockchain. The @OverclockSol team just built a home verification client written in GO to prove that you can now have both of the following and you don't have to just pick one - 1. A blockchain with 400ms slot times with a globally distributed validator set running all of finance with sub cent tx fees for the user 2. The ability for you to verify this blockchain from home using cheap hardware All this without zk or sharding or layer 2s. Solana will be the one giant global state machine for all of finance. Some additional thoughts: 1. This naturally makes $ORE the perfect $stORE of value (theoretically at least) because it's the only store of value that has a fixed supply, has a built in private storage value, can be moved around at the speed of light and can be verified from your home. I want every $ORE bull to run this if they actually believe in the sov thesis (@mattytay, @dchapman, @smyyguy, @treybuckingham) 2. Once Mithril launches the next version (more on that below), there is close to zero reason for Ethereum to exist for anything serious. And a few caveats: 1. You cannot use this home verification node for high frequency trading, you'll need your own dedicated data center node for that (just like you do for doing mev stuff on ethereum) 2. Right now mithril gets shred data from RPC calls but future versions of mithril will get it directly from Solana gossip Solana has the potential to finally achieve the goal of becoming other worldly technology.
