NEW: Here are my expectations on who is expected to return for Memphis, after several conversations this weekend.
These decisions aren’t official until contractual agreement and/or summer enrollment is completed. We could also see influence from new GM/staff.

Julius Thedford returning next season for Memphis is a net positive. Thedford was the only Tiger with a PPP above 1 (1.027) and led the team in rebounds last season (despite being a 6’4” G). He consistently showed effort with little to play for last season. As for some of the others potentially returning, I am not a fan. Continuity is usually good, except when a team is coming off their worst year this century. Penny must understand that some of these guys returning will do more harm than good.

He’s right. A bunch of stars have adopted this specific “drive hard left, draw contact on a semi-impossible shot, then flail” move and it keeps working. Refs have to stop calling it. It sucks to watch.

Jaylen Brown is right: That’s not basketball. But I can’t blame SGA for it. I blame the referees and the league itself for rewarding this behavior. It should not be a foul. Defenders should be allowed to play defense. Marginal contact like this should not draw a whistle. Play on.
