NEWS: Memphis HC Penny Hardaway is targeting current Alabama State HC Tony Madlock to be his associate head coach, per sources. Madlock - who already spent three years on Penny’s staff as an assistant - led ASU to their first ever NCAA tournament win in 2024-25. Known as a bulldog, Madlock has legit head coaching experience under his belt + Penny knows he can trust him, which makes him an attractive hire for Penny. Fits the mold of what you every HC wants at the associate head coaching spot. Nothing is finalized yet, but a deal could come together soon.

NEWS: Memphis Assistant Jermaine “Freaky JJ” Johnson has been FIRED, as expected. Mike Davis and Roy Rogers were also fired. There were no options for them to return, despite what was previously reported. Source adds that a GM is expected to be hired this week. Several candidates have been contacted, but one is a clear leader in the running.

This is the problem with journalism in 2026. Penny’s quote is completely taken out of context. If you’re going to publish someone else’s words, use the full quote—not just the part that fits a narrative. But, hey congrats on your viral tweet.

Here's the quote from Dr. Scott on how they plan to use automation/AI to help them in the portal. I struggle to see why they're getting dunked on for this. I'd be shocked if other big time programs aren't doing this already. And again, if they're not now, they will soon.

Plenty of things to be critical of with Memphis basketball right now. Them saying they're gonna use AI to navigate and find players in the portal better...doesn't feel like one of them? If you're favorite team isn't using it now, they will be soon. Feels like a smart move IMO.

Obviously some of the situations you can't. This is one of those. Situation is a little different when we found out what was going on this morning -- I found out this morning. I guess it all went down this morning. We had to suspend him pending the investigation by the UA office of student conduct. We're disappointed in his behavior. With that said, we still love him. NEWS: Rick Stansbury has emerged as a strong candidate for the open head coach position at Georgia Tech, per source. Interest is mutual between both parties, and if Cross gets it, expect Stansbury’s name to make the rounds at other MM/HM openings (ex. USF, if it opens). Known as one of the best recruiters in the industry, Stansbury would immediately elevate a program needing a spark. Stans brings two decades of HC experience, with the majority of those becoming the winningest coach in Mississippi State history. Would be an excellent hire to immediately revive the Georgia Tech program and bring them back to the Bobby Cremins days.

Agreed. Dalmar Ali (@Dalmar__Ali) will be a HM assistant very soon. Helped take LIU from a 7-22 team in 2023-24 season to finishing 24-10 this year and clinching a NCAAT bid. Built a strong 🇨🇦 pipeline, recruiting their three leading scorers in Greg Gordon, Malachi Davis, Jamal Fuller, + more. Was named top 100 Most Impactful Mid-Major Coach by Silver Waves Media for his major contribution in turning around the LIU program.

Also, congrats to the entire LIU coaching staff. Special shout out to @Dalmar__Ali, who is the longest tenured assistant on the staff and helped recruit so many of these players on this team.
