President Trump unveiled 100% tariffs on patented medications and their active ingredients, pharmaceutical corporations raised prices on 64 oncology drugs in the first week of January alone, Medicare Director admitted that MFN won’t directly lower prices for U.S. patients, and 88% of Americans support policies that make it easier to bring generic drugs to market. 💯 P4AD advocate Marge is right. Big Pharma patent abuse doesn't just affect patients, it's causing harm to families and communities and must be stopped. The ETHIC Act would reduce drug company patient abuse by addressing double patenting but Big Pharma's lobbyists are hard at work against it. Help us fight Big Pharma greed. Send a letter to your representative urging them to put patients first by supporting the ETHIC Act today: tinyurl.com/3bynbf37

💯 @SenSanders is right on the money! While drug companies rake in record profits, patients across the US are paying the highest prices in the world for their life saving prescription drugs. We know that drugs don't work if people can't afford them so why are we letting Big Pharma profit at patient expense? Visit FightPharma.org to fight back!

New P4AD analysis found that pharmaceutical companies raised prices on 208 rare disease drugs, the FTC reached a second settlement against another major PBM, as the patent expiration for Keytruda approaches Merck spends $26 Billion on acquisitions, and new study finds that capping out-of-pocket costs under the IRA is already improving medication adherence. 👏 Thank you @SenSanders for calling out Big Pharma greed! While the ten top pharmaceutical companies make over 100 billion dollars in profit and their CEOs take home millions per year, 1 in 3 Americans can't afford their prescription medication. We know that drugs don't work if people can't afford them so why are we letting Big Pharma profit while patients suffer? Visit PatientsForAffordableDrugs.org to fight back!

The FTC has reached a proposed settlement with CVS Caremark over allegations that its PBM business practices artificially inflated insulin prices and limited patient access to lifesaving medication. Patients rationed their dosages and, in some cases, died after a lack of sufficient treatment. While the details are still pending FTC review and approval, the proposed agreement signals continued momentum to rein in the rebate-driven practices that have pushed patients toward higher-priced drugs and increased out-of-pocket costs. ❌ Big Pharma is once again resorting to spreading misinformation about Medicare negotiation to protect drug industry profits and reestablish complete control over drug prices at patient expense. Patients on both sides of the aisle fought hard for the reforms in the 2022 prescription drug law and won’t fall for drug industry fear-mongering as it prioritizes profits over people’s lives. Patient stories like Lisa's are all too common but the bipartisan Eliminating Thickets to Improve Competition (ETHIC) Act could help change that! The ETHIC Act addresses double patenting and gives patients faster access to more affordable options. Under this bill, a generic manufacturer would only need to successfully challenge one key patent on a brand-name drug to invalidate duplicative patents. That means the low-value patents Big Pharma has relied on to block competition and keep prices artificially high would be significantly easier to defeat. Send a letter to your representative urging them to prioritize patients over drug company profits by supporting the ETHIC Act today: tinyurl.com/3bynbf37

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is absolutely right, pharmaceutical monopolies and vertical integration increase costs for patients and make it harder to access care. We urgently need Congress to do more to rein in this industry and ensure patients can get the medications they need at prices they can afford.

One patient, $24,699 in total drug costs. But because of Medicare’s out-of-pocket cap, this patient paid $2,100 for the entire year instead of tens of thousands of dollars for his medications. Without this critical reform, patients would still be exposed to devastating costs at the pharmacy counter. Reforms that cap costs and lower prices are critical for people who depend on expensive medicines.

Thank you, Rep. @AOC, for calling out how patients are ultimately getting screwed by this unjust system that's more focused on profits than patient health. We urgently need Congress to do more to rein in the drug industry and ensure patients can get the medications they need at prices they can afford.
