One Nation has a remarkable record for elected politicians quitting the party. Three federal senators - Burston, Culleton and Anning - and 22 State MPs, including former Labor leader Mark Latham in NSW. On that record, don’t assume a smooth coronation for #BarnabyJoyce

This afternoon we had to make the gut-wrenching decision to say goodbye to our precious little fur girl, Ruby Rose. Ruby had dementia, but she went downhill rapidly after we lost Angus. I thought we would have more time with our beautiful girl, but it wasn’t to be. She was in too much pain from arthritis despite the best treatment - and she could no longer walk or move without immense discomfort despite pain killers. When she lost the use of her legs completely we knew that it was too much to ask anymore from her 💔 I lost my beloved parents last year three months apart … and I lost my precious pups this year three weeks apart. I’m not sure how much heartache and grief I am meant to endure in my lifetime.. but I know I’m right at the high-water mark at THIS moment in time. Farewell to my beautiful and much-loved little girl. I will love you and miss you forever ❤️🐾🐾❤️ Ruby Rose - 16 May 2008 - 6 August 2024 💔

@P55Gilbert @AlboMP @AnikaWells Totally agree Gilbert It shouldn't be just a handout to council, too much room for corrupt behaviour or mismanagement It has to be a joint effort - Feds & Local Council, not just construction/replacement but ongoing management as well 🐝

🧵1/2 Everyone is super energized about the Olympic swimming right now So, it'd be a very good time to remind ppl that most Australian public swimming pools were built in 60's/70's & are nearing the end of their lifespan Many communities are yet to get a public pool 🐝 #auspol

@BelindaJones68 @AlboMP @AnikaWells Point taken, however, how much of this is due to lack of maintenance or ploys to get the easy money by saying it is outdated. I'm seeing a council that has one desk job per operative employee.

A 66yr old mate who cant get a job reluctantly had to go on jobseeker. He's being forced to do on-line "courses" (patronising bs) to meet his "points." He has a masters degree😳 These "courses" are just a scam aren't they, so the so-called job providers get $$? @billshortenmp

Someone pls write about how accountability in Aus has collapsed. How the basic mechanisms to deliver it - Royal Commissions, inquiries, integrity comms, AFP, regulatory bodies like ASIC etc - have become empty simulacra to soak up pressure & waste time. How none of them work.

@ShiannonC I am continually amazed how many people give no regard to history, dismissing it for the convenience of THEIR argument. Judiciously used history can form the basis of learning going forward. After all for example don't touch the fire because it's hot, is how we learn.

I’ve been avoiding the cacophony of cawing excreted from RW media nether regions and served up to the masses like chocolate-sprinkle cake. Instead, I’ve been immersing myself in Roman history - mostly factual, some dramatised. I find it interesting, the rise and slow demise of an Empire full of creativity, backstabbing, strategic manipulation, absolute power, politics and the manipulation of the unruly masses. ….The “bread and circuses” distraction of the masses - in the later years of the West Roman Empire where the chasm between the haves and the have-nots was wide enough to create deep and dissenting divisions. The elites used entertainment and food to not only distract the masses, but influence the mindset of the population to preserve the ruling class’ place of power. Sounds familiar🙄 Kinda like the Gina Rineharts of the world using their power and wealth to buy political and media loyalty to influence the masses - in this case the have-nots - into believing that the fkn circus and the chocolate sprinkle cake is exactly what the people need to make their lives complete. The strategy of distraction and manipulation is not new. It has been around for thousands of years. It’s always about power and control. Unfortunately, we live in an age where we are subjected to prolonged and systematic pressure via every possible “entertainment” entity imaginable - courtesy of technology, mass information and the Internet. Any wonder we suffer from increasing information overload and are unable to determine what is the truth and what is not. This is a deliberate feature created by our propagandic overlords. Spread that shyte like butter - lies, misinformation, disinformation, half truths - throw in a culture war with some food, sport and entertainment - and the great unwashed will be too busy defending their patch to factor in a fact check. It’s that simple….but as with all great empires and elitist rule - it will eventually fail. There is simply too much imbalance that will either lead to a correction or an over-correction. I can only hope and imagine that there is enough of a push back against this toxicity of power that truth, or at least commonsense will prevail. We just have to keep pushing it.

@ARealJourno @senbmckenzie Of course. Shows their level of intellect. In fact Gov has chipped in to keep country services going, they wouldn't be in the jet services between capital cities.

The Albanese Government is asleep at the wheel on aviation. They knew Bonza's problems 10 days before the airline collapsed and did nothing. Now we have Rex Airlines in the spotlight with no apparent plan by the Government to address this latest crisis at the expense of the Australian travelling public.

Shoving an entire classroom of kids into another teacher’s (full) class when a teacher is sick seems to be the norm these days. I can’t remember it ever happening when I was a kid. Is it a new thing?

Big build projects blow out by $10.1 billion in the recent budget driven by CFMEU corruption that has been a major contributor to rising inflation. This Labor Government rewards their mates at the expense of everyday Australians. Study and work hard for years to earn a decent wage? Take a 3-day course, enter the CFMEU and become a stop-go worker and make $200k? That $4.2 million that the CFMEU chucked in Labor coffers at the last election sure paid off! Australia cannot take another 3 years of Labor and their mates draining tax-payer money that could be funding more infrastructure, more hospitals, and more services for all of the citizenry.

@senbmckenzie The last Gov obviously asleep at the wheel again. Of course crickets about those companies who gave in to CFMEU or the inability of BCA to reign them in.

Australian taxpayers are paying billions of dollars in cost overruns for infrastructure projects that are under the control of the CFMEU. Companies bidding for work have secured Victorian Government projects despite quoting double the price of competitors simply because they had CFMEU backing. The CMFEU hold on the Albanese and Allan Governments has to end.
