I enjoyed meeting with People Acting in Community Together @PACTSJ with @Ash_Kalra, and I share their concerns. We need to treat the housing shortage like the crisis it is, and quickly secure housing for the unhoused and anyone who is housing-insecure.

In a few days, the #CALeg Senate will vote on #SB567, the #HomelessnessPreventionAct. We're counting on @BillDoddCA @SusanEggman @Portantino @GeneralRoth @SenBlakespear to vote YES on this critical bill that will close eviction loopholes for millions of renters in California!

Today, the Senate Appropriations Committee decides if they want to stop rising homelessness in California by passing #SB567 or continue to allow our families to be pushed out onto the streets. We look forward to #SB567 making it out of appropriations & to a full floor vote!

Without the strengthened tenant protections proposed in #SB567, renovictions will continue to harm our communities and exacerbate a growing crisis. If we truly believe that our #HomeisSacred, then there's NO choice but to pass the #HomelessnessPreventionAct as is! It's crucial.

Our San Jose State Student Leaders gathered at San Jose City Hall to demand the Independent Police Auditor (IPA) have full independent investigatory powers over the San Jose Police Department.
