NOTHING SAYS ENTITLEMENT LIKE HYPOCRISY! Texas is 61-62% people of color. Four million new residents—95% people of color—are powering that growth. Republicans just gerrymandered it to 30 GOP seats and 8 Dem seats. They chopped up Houston—21% white, 44% Latino, 25% Black—and stitched the pieces into rural Republican districts like Frankenstein. Then they have the nerve to cry about Virginia? The Supreme Court let Texas use a map that a three-judge panel—including a Trump appointee—found was an illegal racial gerrymander. After 160 pages of evidence, 9 days of testimony, and 20+ witnesses, SCOTUS reviewed it over a holiday weekend and said "nah, use it anyway." Kagan called it: "We are a higher court, but not a better one." And let's not forget—Barrett, Kavanaugh, and Alito were Bush attorneys during Bush v. Gore, fighting for 36 days to count overseas ballots that gave him the win. Now on SCOTUS, they're saying ballots arriving a day late should be tossed. Same attorneys. Same party. Opposite rules. If that's not partisan hypocrisy, you're choosing blindness. They don't want democracy. They want power by any means necessary.

- confirming that our allies are fake allies - creating clear evidence of the obsolescence of NATO - creating moral justification for future concessions demanded from european former allies once we unilaterally reopen the straight (hint: Trump will make sure he is repaid for the blood and treasure we spent opening the strait)

The United States has the greatest navy in the world. Not really sure why Trump is begging for help to execute his war in the Strait of Hormuz. Can someone explain this to me?

@allenanalysis You are not being completely honest or accurate. You can also use a birth certificate which 99% of everyone born in the USA has access to. Most people probably used it to obtain their drivers license.

This exchange just happened on the Senate floor. Cornyn: “I don’t understand how the SAVE Act disenfranchises voters.” Durbin: “Happy to explain. Driver’s licenses don’t qualify under the bill. 50% of Americans don’t have passports.” Cornyn: “Why not just amend it?” Durbin: “When’s the last time the Senate actually amended a bill?” Silence. The SAVE Act requires passport-level documentation to register to vote. 50% of Americans don’t have a passport. The people least likely to have passports: the elderly, the poor, rural Americans, young first-time voters. The people most likely to have passports: wealthy Americans. This is not voter protection. This is voter selection. And when a senator suggested fixing it — his own colleague couldn’t name the last time the Senate amended anything. That’s the Senate in 2026.

Absolutely incredible… Trump says the climbing oil prices are a very "small price to pay"… I’d bet most Americans would choose lower gas prices at home over war with Iran.

@realgreggd I would totally agree with you that what Sgt. Rosaso did was "badass". The original poster was talking about a sub attack. One was about enjoying the killing, the other was about risking his life to save his comrade.I put those (as anyone should) in different categories entirely.

Goodness you are a milksop nerd. Badass is in 2005 Sgt. Daniel Rosado ran down a road in Baqubah, Iraq through a near ambush, jumped into a literal shit river to save Pfc John Chrzanowski (who was on fire) after an IED blow up the truck he was in driving. War is hell Dan, but some of us saw and served with the biggest badasses to ever wear the uniform. We know it’s not a game because we lived it, and carry it with us every day. It was the worst of times, yet also the best of times.
Dan Carlin@dccommonsense

@MericaCulture "Badass"? This ain't a game man. Sometimes you do what you have to do but "badass" is what you write in an action movie script. Action heroes in movies rarely deal with PTSD though. Or having their legs blown off.

@ProudSocialist Data shows a massive long-term decline in extreme poverty, with the percentage of people below poverty lines dropping from ~75-80% in 1800 to around 10% by the 2010s. That is what real capitalism has done.

The Fed will label it 'Reserve Management', they will say it is 'Temporary', and they will insist it is 'NOT QE'. But the reality is that this is a pivot to expansion of the Fed balance sheet, adding liquidity to markets, and is in fact, Quantitative Easing.

Why are we blaming drug dealers for drug addiction but not alcohol companies for alcoholics, or casinos for gambling addicts? Does the addict carry no blame? Do drug dealers force you to use and become addicted? The propaganda is so strong that Americans have lost the plot.

@simonmaechling While there is some specific accuracy in your statement, it is much more nuanced. Science has also failed people by being less than truthful about certain subjects such as the effect of sugar and certain medications/vaccines on the human body. This leads to low trust.

If I really said what I think, it wouldn’t be polite. I'll be simple: We’re living through peak anti-intellectualism. People reject science with the same confidence that Puritans screamed about witches. Different century. Same fear. Science didn’t fail you. You abandoned it.
