Helping to make Wisconsin's manufacturing environment the best in the world.

Microsoft’s AI Co-Innovation Lab in Wisconsin is built on partnership with local companies and communities to ensure technology strengthens Wisconsin’s foundation for the future. We’re helping startups and manufacturers harness the power of AI to create real solutions, deliver better experiences, and drive economic growth for their customers and workforce. @UWM @Kohler @TitletownTechGB @Microsoft

Maria Cristina De Nardi (@M_De_Nardi) reminds us that Minneapolis woke up to –22 °C this morning. The best part of doing a Ph.D. in economics at Minnesota? When it’s that cold, working through Stokey–Lucas–Prescott Recursive Methods in Economic Dynamics actually becomes the most enjoyable activity available. And then you reread the introduction and smile at this gem: “The idea of an economic equilibrium has undergone a similar evolution: it no longer carries the connotation of a system at rest.” (The book came out in 1989, but the notes circulated long before.) Moments like that are why I am immensely proud to call myself a Minnesota alumnus—and yes, alumnus is the correct singular, masculine, second declension noun. There are few places on Earth where you learn as much economics as at @UMN_Econ. And the weather? Honestly—not that bad. You get used to it.

In a new report, @MichaelEOHanlon, @MWosinska, @MarkMuro1, & @thomaswright08 outline a framework that broadens and scopes the US national security industrial base—focusing on supply chains where disruptions could have dangerous consequences. brook.gs/3XQ8VY3

On a recent trip to Wisconsin, I met with Torben and his team at Wiscon Products, a third‑generation, family‑owned manufacturer. They’re using AI to inspire skilled work by turning data into insight so machinists can spend more time doing what they do best: building with their hands. @Microsoft @TitletownTechGB
