Just updated a diagram I did in 2017 around nociception/pain! The idea is to show all the sub systems that can influence the pain experienced, including wider factors such as health & lifestyle

Psychomotor skill is still very important to meet patient needs and preferences and time should be allocated to develop and assess progress.

How important is SMT specificity? Our new paper shows specificity might matter less than we thought, but don’t misinterpret it! 🚨 Proper training & skill still matter such as good patient alliance, respectful hands-on techniques, adapting to patient comfort Open access soon!

@JOSPT @CasperGNim Thanks Casper this is a very good question indeed and if we are to say that we are evidence based we can’t ignore these findings. It doesn’t change the fact that that we still need to teach psychomotor skill acquisition but emphasise other clinical skills in the curriculum.

Another addition to our graduating team - Congratulations to Dr Tom Calverley who graduated with his #PhD yesterday. Tom's work primarily focused on the cerebrovascular adaptations to High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) in the aged population. 👏👏
