In Pakistan, we have become very good at celebrating beginnings. A new school building. A photograph of smiling girls holding textbooks. A ribbon cutting ceremony with media coverage. We excel at these moments; the promise, the optimism, the perfect photograph and media coverage. These moments matter. But they have also allowed us to look away from a harder truth: far too many girls disappear from education just when it should begin to change their lives.

Our commitment to safety cannot end where the screen begins. When women face violence online, their voices shrink, and freedom disappears. Through education and awareness, we can equip everyone to recognize, prevent, and stand against online abuse.

The data proves that women are disproportionately targeted online. We need digital spaces that are equitable, secure, and free from the threat of abuse.

Pakistan contributes less than 1% of global emissions — yet climate disasters are driving the country deeper into debt and pushing girls out of school, threatening their futures. 26M children are out of school. 🇵🇰can’t rely on small fixes anymore we need bold, accountable action for girls’ education. Key insights from @MalalaFund discussion • Invest 6% of GDP + a dedicated budget line for girls’ education. • Children are in school but not learning. • KP needs 15,000 new schools, only 300 built per year. • Girls walk miles, face hidden costs, climate shocks & outdated curricula young people know what must change. Students spoke about being judged by grades, silenced by fear of punishment, and left out due to lack of support But they also dreamed out loud of classrooms where teachers uplift, and where learning goes beyond marks 🌱 Change starts by listening to those living it 🎤

On October 28th, SAQE hosted a Civil Society Learning Session, opening with an inspiring welcome from Zehra Arshad, Executive Director of SAQE, who set the stage for a day of meaningful dialogue, reflection, and collective growth. 💬
