💜 #MeđunarodniDanŽena #RodnaRavnopravnost #Bosna #ZapadniBalkan #EU #EUVP #DijalogOPolitkama

Marking International Women’s Day in the heart of Europe! 🌍✨ Last week, PCRC's Program Director Tatjana Milovanović was in Brussels for a special “Gender Equality & Equal Opportunities” thematic week of the EUVP – European Union Visitors Programme. The week included group and bilateral meetings with officials from key EU institutions, including the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European External Action Service, and the European Economic and Social Committee. Tatjana had the opportunity to share more about PCRC’s work on dealing with the past, peacebuilding, and promoting inclusive dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while also learning more about the country’s EU integration process and current initiatives advancing gender equality across Europe. We are grateful for the opportunity to exchange ideas, build connections, and highlight the importance of women’s leadership in shaping a more just, inclusive, and peaceful future. 💜 #InternationalWomensDay #GenderEquality #Bosnia #WesternBalkans #EU #EUVP #PolicyDialogue @tatjana677

We have successfully concluded the first Western Balkans Peace Forum, held on 3-4 March 2026 in Podgorica, Montenegro 🇲🇪. The aim of the Forum was to define a common agenda and recommendations for reconciliation processes, dealing with the past and preventing identity-based violence in the context of #EU and Western Balkans security. The Forum was supported by @OpenSocietyWB and 🇪🇺 (through the Global Initiative Against Impunity #GIAI). We would like to express our special gratitude to our partner organizations and institutions that enriched the discussion and work of the Forum with their participation and contribution: @EUAmbME, @IBVprev, #HelsinkiCommitteeSerbia, @CGOCCE, @YUCOMoffice, #Ostra0, @RYCOwb, #ProPeaceBiH, @OSCEBiH, @YIHRSrbija, @NGOUDIK, @HLCKosovo, @UN_BiH, @TheICMP, @Trial, @QKRMT, @coe, @CEDEM_ME, @ImpunityWatch, @cgmap_balkans. We would also like to thank our moderators for leading inspiring and meaningful discussions. One of the main conclusions of the #wbpeace Forum was that identity politics remains one of the main challenges for the stability of the region, but also a space in which civil society must take on a stronger role through education, dialogue and regional cooperation. The Forum reaffirmed that the Western Balkans belong to the European family, but also that this implies a shared responsibility to strengthen democratic resilience and build lasting peace. > eeas.europa.eu/delegations/mo… Thank you to everyone who was part of this initiative and contributed to its success! #peace #WesternBalkans #RegionalCooperation #PeaceForum #PCRCBiH

"Children of Sarajevo portrays four different stories from the perspective of now-adults or family members of the victims. Each story is unique, but together they testify to pain, loss, and the dignity and power of memory" - Erna Mačkić, #PCRCBiH To mark the anniversary of the official end of the siege of Sarajevo (February 29), we also hosted a screening of our film 'Children of Sarajevo' in Montenegro. This film is not only a document about the past, but also serves as a reminder that we must never forget the victims because it is our duty to preserve these stories from oblivion. In addition to personal testimonies, the film refers to judicially established facts and the archives of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT). By using these archival materials, we strive to ensure that the memory of the siege remains based on irrefutable evidence that has been documented before international institutions. More about the film at balkandiskurs.com/en/2024/05/07/… #Sarajevo #SarajevoSiege #ChildrenofSarajevo #wbpeace @EUAmbME

“If the governments are stuck, and if protections are being fractured, the significance of the international network becomes even more important. The worse it gets, the deeper the risk comes to those populations or to those rights or to those freedoms, and the more important the internationalization of those networks becomes” - Kate Ferguson (@WordsAreDeeds), @IBVprev Participants of the #wbpeace Forum had the opportunity to attend an expert workshop entitled "Practical insights on prevention, policy engagement, and strategies that WB CSOs can adapt to strengthen their impact". Together with Kate Ferguson and Farida Akram Mostafa from #ProtectionApproaches, CSO representatives had the opportunity to exchange experiences on practical methods of preventing hate speech, analyze strategies for more effective policy advocacy, define concrete steps by which civil society organizations from the Western Balkans can strengthen their influence and proactively respond to challenges in real time. “It’s one thing to tell someone technically that something is important and they should do it because it’s the right thing to do, or it’s the effective thing to do. A different approach, that's just as important, is to bring people together in a room in a way that they're able to share any concerns and their perspectives on the issues, but also see a human face that is at the forefront of dealing with, experiencing, and responding to these risks and having a concrete conversation about what support looks like in real time” - Farida Akram Mostafa, #ProtectionApproaches #wbpeace #CSO #Montenegro #humanrights #WesternBalkans #regionalcooperation #EUSecurity @EUAmbME
