Supported by PCS, a trade union rally at Parliament Buildings heard strong calls for the immediate introduction of the regulations needed to activate the Safe Leave Act. The law passed more than three years ago, yet it has not been brought into force.

In 2022 the Northern Ireland Assembly passed a ground-breaking piece of legislation. The Safe Leave Act provided essential support to victims/survivors of domestic abuse and violence including 10 days of paid leave. The consultation closed in 2024 and yet three and a half years later, there is still no sign of Safe Leave.

Today is #DisabilityPayGap day, the day when Disabled workers stop getting paid for the rest of the year.
In 2025 Disabled workers earn £78.40 less a week then non-disabled workers. Disabled workers earn £4,081 less a year than everyone else.
The gap is more than the average house spends on food a week - £64.30.
