Mendoza’s hit chart tells a clear development story when you look at it through structure instead of highlights. The first thing that stands out is turnover reduction in the middle of the field. That is not accidental. Middle-of-field throws require disciplined progression sequencing and post-snap confirmation. When those improve, the ball stops going to conflict defenders and starts finding clean windows. That is decision hierarchy discipline showing up on film, not just stat sheet improvement. The second piece is his depth of target efficiency. His average depth of target increased 20% from Cal(8.7) to Indiana(10.4), and his completion percentage went up from 66% to 68%. That points to improved leverage recognition and ball placement, especially on firm throws outside the numbers. Accuracy at that level is not random. It is repeatable mechanics aligned with timing and structure. This is what development looks like. Better decisions, cleaner distribution, and reduced risk in high-traffic areas. That is how a quarterback moves from production to projection.
