Think I’m finally done here. Going to move over to that other app with the same username and probably deactivate this one once I’m done following people there.

@MissGinaDarling First world event, probably first gulf war. First major national thing I remember, the promotion of the Dick Tracy movie. Two equally significant historical moments

@ModeratelyMtg I always liked that this card really should not be able to legally work but the rules are just like “you know how it’s supposed to work”

you know what, I'm just going to start unironically playing Rhystic Cave in my multi color casual decks like who has the mana or the petty energy to actually stop me from making one mana?

In the book version of American Psycho, Patrick Bateman reacts negatively to various fragrances—Polo Green, Grey Flannel, Armani Pour Homme, Xeryus, Drakkar Noir, and Paco Rabanne. All of these were very popular in the 1980s. I suspect Bateman—like many of his cultural judgements—was reacting not necessarily to the smell, but who wore them. He disliked them because he thought they were pedestrian. Meanwhile, he wore Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne, which was released a decade before the book was written. I don't know the popularity of Paul Sebastian vs. the others, but the fragrance profile on Fragrantica suggests it's a bit fresher and lighter than the signature male scents of the 1980s. So perhaps he thought this choice made him more discerning and aligned with the higher classes. Perhaps something in here about class judgements with regard to taste.

I would *love* to hear everyone’s recommendations for references to smell in pop culture (tv, film, art, memes etc). Bonus points if it has an ethical angle, but certainly not essential.

@SaffronOlive That is the world’s best trained beagle. Mine would find a way to get lost and end up two towns over if she ever went out without a leash

Random IRL question: one of my neighbors has a super sweet Beagle, but they don't have a collar on it and they let is walk back and forth from their house to where they work (about a mile away) in the road (a not super busy country road, but still...). Random people stop at my house multiple times a week asking if I lost a dog because they almost hit the Beagle in front of my house. I tried talking to the owner, explaining how it was going to get hit by a car and they should at least have a collar on it so people know where it lives, but they just got angry and basically said it was their dog and they'd do what they want with it. What (if anything) should I do from here?

@masoneclark Polymorph no question. Was a bad transformational sideboard plan for standard Pyromancer Ascension. But the reason it was so bad is I forgot to add my targets to the sideboard too…

What the worst card you have ever played that you won a tournament with? This is mine. It was a standard PPTQ and I had 4 in my main deck XD (Zoomers PPTQ's are just RCQ's)
