@mellem_esq @KAIROSMMA2 Agree, karate guy myself. Super biased towards em all but tell me i’m wrong almost all elite guys emulate karate, not other disciplines. Yea ik Ilia and shit now but Cejudo, DJ, Conor, etc… list goes on and on of karate based striking ruling the UFC

The UFC had CM punk and Cindy Dandois able to get on the roster , mma legitimately is one of the easiest sports to go pro in and the UFC does not have a THAT massive of skill gap from the regional scene

@mellem_esq @KAIROSMMA2 Yessir! thats exactly what i mean. The era was very different and many were just reallyyyy good at what they did and did very well to ensure their game was implemented. Aldo was impossible to TD, Silva had super underrated TDD too. So forced opponents to play their game

@PEZMMA @KAIROSMMA2 That's a good point but I would say for a majority of those fighters BJJ was still an asset. You couldn't get Aldo down, and we saw how Silva beat Chael the first time. Dags also have this, Islam can win on the feet because of the wrestling threat.

True, but i can’t back BRA paying more attention to BJJ than others tho. There were definitely more specialists at that time for sure (Demien Maia) but many of the elite guys from BRA were mostly strikers imo. Silva, Belfort, Lyoto, Aldo, Barao, Shogun. More specialists like i said but i would lean towards most were strikers or wrestlers in general in terms of skill set for that era

@PEZMMA @KAIROSMMA2 Brazil ruled because it had people who put more into BJJ than anyone had put into another relevant martial art. Dag is that way now because the same can be said of wrestling. We still don't have a true era of well-trained, athletic MMA practitioners

I can agree here, this era is ran by the Dags but previous era was all US and BRA. like even the top 10 in every class was basically all Brazilian lol. Things change tho and camps evolve so now Spain is in the mix and many other countries that didn’t even have a SINGLE rostered fighter are now relevant

@KAIROSMMA2 @PEZMMA I pretty much agree about the MMA talent level, but Brock was literally a NCAA Div I heavyweight champion, not a great example lol. CM Punk got in based on star value, which is dumb and would get you nothing but maybe a tryout in any other serious sport, but it's not easy lol

Different era tbh. Lack of sponsors nowadays keeps pay a continued issue. Also probably the most extreme example lol literal GOAT. Not wrong about the current state of those 3 divisions tho. But that is worldwide rn too, just a bad era after the golden era was blessed with 185, 205 and 265ers.

@gfuckingq @KAIROSMMA2 @PEZMMA Look at the ufc heavyweight and light heavyweight and middle weight division the talent level isn't great and DJ even said it's the easiest sport to become a champion in he did it while being a part-timer which a lot of ufc fighters are.

Tbh yes and no bro. I get your point but maybe football is the only one i’ll agree on due to it being an American sport. Basketball and baseball have pro leagues all over the world that people discredit a lot. KBO, JPL, rookie-AAA ball. Basketball Euro, China, G League too. Regardless all highest level sports are extremely hard to achieve. Less than 2% of the world get to that level

How out of touch is this company with bonuses? Periera gets a bonus in a boring ass fight after she lands a flukey knee. Gore was a +475 underdog had a back and fourth war with momentum changes that lasted till the 3rd, what’s even worse is they gave the fight of the night to mcmillen/zecchini in a one sided beatdown that lasted 3 minutes. Seemed pretty easy to do Ewing/Moicano and gore/azamat fotn. They went 0/3
