When the Jasper twins were just 12 years old, they stood in a hospital hallway watching their uncle fight for his life. The doctor talked to them as though they had no clue what was going on. Right there in that hallway, they made a promise to each other: "We could do better than that." They are now Dr. Travan Jasper and Dr. Travis Jasper, and they came back home to Richmond, Virginia to run the emergency department at Chippenham Hospital together. The brothers both graduated at the top of their high school class in Richmond and were the first in their family to go to college and become doctors. They earned full scholarships to Stanford University and then went to the University of Chicago Medical School. For 15 years, they served as co-medical directors together at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. The Jasper brothers are the only twins running the same hospital department in a network that includes 18 hospitals across Virginia and New Hampshire. To help people tell them apart, Travan wears green and Travis wears purple. Together they are fathers to eight children and remain dedicated to mentoring young people and coaching youth basketball.
