@SW_Help What is the situation on 19th April, as National Rail and you differ in your info? Is it rail replacement at Staines then two-hourly direct trains Woking - Weymouth (unusual) or double dose rail replacement at both Staines and Poole (horrible)?

@RichardWellings Cars are great if you drive them - but if you don't have one, you're screwed. Businesses move out of high streets to out-of-town locations as it is more convenient, and pedestrians have to walk miles around low density retail parks, which are harder to serve by bus.

Buses are hideously slow and inconvenient. You have to walk to the stops, wait around, and can't carry much either. By forcing people to use buses instead of cars they're severely restricting mobility and access to job, retail and leisure opportunities. birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-…

Arriving into St. Pancras at midnight, the only option was the last Piccadilly and a taxi home from Hatton Cross. But at least Mass won't be cancelled!

A surprise was to find our train, originating in Amsterdam, booked for the terminal platform 2. Presumably it passed through Midi and reversed back in, as it's in correct formation!

A very, very little Sunday evening escape. A miniature bite on the train to Brussels, and something more hearty onwards to Köln. @Eurostar should take a leaf out of DB's book when it comes to food. Although that is probably the only leaf they should take from DB...
