FYI! Between 2017 and 2020, the percentage of 7th and 8th grade ELs who speak Portuguese doubled. Community leaders at @PhillyOIA and @HIASPA told us that this finding reflects what they have seen in EL communities and in service requests at their own organizations. #phled

Hey #phled! PERC researchers recently looked into the diversity and experiences of middle school English Learners in the last few years in SDP. We found: 📊 Though many come to us from all over the world, nearly half of middle school ELs were born in the United States

Did you know #PhlEd? SDP’s population of ELs has grown by 66% in the last decade, from about 12,000 in 2014 to nearly 20,000 in 2022. Last year, ELs made up 17% of the student population compared to only 9% in 2014. Read all about it: philasd.org/research/2023/…
