@MichaelJarvie What would you say were the most useful ones you read?

@PHayzWrites I've read about 60 books on screenwriting. None of them specifically focus on adaptation as far as I can recall. It's more a case of learning the craft. I already knew how to write screenplays when I adapted my thriller Black Art. It's a case of knowing what will work on screen.

@CharlesSuddeth I've bookmarked a few on Amazon yep, yet to purchase though

@AustinJ_P_ I had an indie game pitch floating around so took the concept from that and wrote it instead. Thought it would be quicker to produce, but that was 4 years ago 😅🤷

Just finished 'No Honour' by Awais Khan - what a book! Instantly made me realise how throwaway much of what I usually read can be 😂 Important, at times brutal storytelling, beautifully written and a real page turner - congrats @AwaisKhanAuthor and @OrendaBooks!

@JGSurma I guess trying to respect the completion guidelines more than anything (must be frustrating for the agents taking part to receive submissions that don't match up to expectations). Going to try with mine though, seems to fit the bill as far as I can tell.

So, #PitDark . . . how to gauge whether my work is 'dark' enough? Seems skewed towards horror, is anyone submitting anything psychological/sci-fi? Mine deals with some darker adult themes and has a couple of 'horrific' moments but isn't really a horror - might that be enough? 🤔
