@MorbidKnowledge Other than that this seems like AI slop, and people are posting racist comments, what's the story here? A woman marries a man she met, the story seems that it's going alright. What's morbid about this? It's just a story about a couple meeting?

German doctor quits her life to marry a man she met on Roblox. Muhammad Akmal, a 22-year-old from a rural village in Mandi Bahauddin, Pakistan, met Dr. Selma, a 26-year-old German-Bosnian doctor, while playing the online game Roblox. After five months of conversation, he proposed and she booked a flight to Pakistan. They were married in a traditional ceremony, with both families present. Selma has since moved permanently to the village, learning Punjabi and Urdu and adjusting to daily life including making roti and hand-washing clothes, things she had never done before.

In 1641, a woman ascended to the throne of the Indonesian sultanate of Aceh: Taj ul-Alam. By this point, female rulers in Islamic history were rare but not unheard of. Figures like Shajar al-Durr, Razia Sultana, and Khadijah of the Maldives had already demonstrated that women could govern. But a pattern had emerged: the farther from Islam’s traditional centers, the less controversial their rule. Taj ul-Alam was no exception. Her reign—and those of the three sultanas who followed her—brought stability to a region long marked by upheaval. Visitors described Aceh as remarkably tranquil and well-administered under female leadership. The sultanate did lose some imperial territory during this period, but in the face of growing pressure from the Dutch East India Company, Aceh maintained its independence and internal stability. Her rule stood in quiet contradiction to a well-known narration attributed to the Prophet Muhammad: “Never will succeed such a nation as makes a woman its ruler.” But the contradiction did not last. In 1699, the final sultana, Zainatuddin, was forced to abdicate—reportedly following a fatwa from Mecca declaring that women were unfit to rule. Aceh had flourished under its sultanas. Their rule was stable. Their leadership was effective. But it ended for one reason alone: they were women. Powerful women were always part of the story. #WomensHistoryMonth #IslamicHistory

I genuinely don’t understand the Taliban’s goal in banning women’s education. I’ve met brothers at my masjid who say they’d send their own daughters to university even abroad in places like Saudi or Qatar. So clearly education itself isn’t the issue. What is?

@INND_00 I’m not fully convinced it’s about “immodesty.” If that were true, why do some of them send their own daughters abroad for education even to places they consider acceptable? That contradiction makes it look less like principle and more like control or power.

This issue mostly matters when dealing with certain kalami disputes and answering specific shubuhat or deviations. As a basic belief, what matters is that you affirm Allah has always been قادر, and has always been the Creator, and that there was never a moment where He was unable to create. If you hold that, you are safe at the level of core belief. The more technical implications only really need to be discussed when those philosophical issues actually come up.

First of all, thanks for your reply. You may actually be surprised, but I'm not a huge fan of heavy subsidies from the government either, in any sector. In an ideal world, no industry should need it. However: this is so widespread worldwide that not having any kind of subsidies actually put you at an heavy disvantage. And in the video game sector, grants and subsidies are more prominent in capitalistic and well developed countries. Here goes the 'communists subsidizing video game production...': it's the total opposite. BTW: as I said in Italy we have extremely mild support, for what we can define as an emerging industry that's an order of magnitude smaller than industries in other countried. That said: we can discuss about government grants, subsidies and Tax Credits for video game production in general, it's an interesting topic, but I'm quite surprised that you pointed out to this specific example, while a ton of other games, not DEI at all, receive way more from governments all over the world. Quoting: "I've discovered where the funding for 1348: Ex Voto actually came from… and it’s WAY worse than we thought." No: actual funding came from Dear Villagers / Plug-In Digital. They fully funded the game, without their funding, the Tax Credit would've been impossible to use (you need to spend actual money first). "Yes. This game was heavily funded w/taxpayer money to once again, push propaganda for the state." Any kind of game made in Italy get access to the same measure, the content or 'pushing propaganda' is irrelevant. Is Carmageddon propaganda? Is Soulstice propaganda? Is any Milestone racing games propaganda? Is Assetto Corsa propaganda? Mmhhh... the vast majority of the italian tax credit for video games production actually went to traditional game experiences with no DEI content at all. So this kind of disprove your point? "The justification? The Italian government’s cultural commission officially classified the game as a “work of cultural value.” Yes! Because basically any games is considered 'work of cultural value"... even Carmageddon! (sorry, I use this example because it's the most extreme one that received the Tax Credit...) "Medieval Lesbians to push an LGBTQ+ Agenda once again." Again: the content is irrelevant to get access to the Tax Credit... it just needs to be a video game. "Which means taxpayers helped bankroll the development of this game under the justification that it contributes to “culture.”" Mmm... I think you'll be surprised of how many things your own government bankroll without asking you first. This is kind of how government works? You basically and influence it with your voting. And again: it's considered "culture" because video games are considered "culture", not for the specific content. Content, again, is irrelevant (remember Carmageddon...). "Everything referenced here is public information. My tipster is in Italy, and many of these Italian websites have some... hurtles to jump through for foreigners to view." Thanks God! It means that it's transparent. Also: yes it's an italian website, for a measure meant for italian video game companies paid by the italian contributors. "This is a pretty wild discovery because it shows that the project didn’t just 'appear' out of nowhere. It was approved, subsidized, and backed by a government cultural funding program." No it's not 'wild': you just discovered that video games can get government subsidies, and they get massive ones all over the world. Probably most games you love and play got some kind of government support, even massive AAA stuff. Also: yes, this project appeared out of nowhere, got funding from a publisher (without funding = no Tax Credit), got access to the Tax Credit. That's the correct sequence, not the other way around. Also, while you can get a nice boost from the Tax Credit, you still need to invest money or get a publisher / investor on board. If the game doesn't sell, you're still making a huge bet and have a massive risk: you'll lose money. TLDR: Are government subsidies for video game production (and also, cinema, art, music etc...) good? We can discuss it, it's another topic and it's an interesting one. Did this game get access to the italian Tax Credit for its content: not at all, it got it because it was a video game, content is not relevant. Does this game exist or was because it got or to get the Tax Credit? No, it exist because a publisher invested into it to make a profit. Under the Italian Tax Credit you got both a new Carmageddon, an hot visual novel coming from us (unannounced!) and the 'medieval lesbian simulator'. It means it kinda works...
Smash JT@SmashJT

Nothing you said actually contradicts my point or anything I said. A common tactic for lefty commies, so I’m used to it, but here you go: A tax credit is STILL taxpayer support (I thought that would be pretty obvious but I guess we gotta start spelling things out here). If the Italian government allows a studio to reduce its tax burden by 25 percent on development costs, that is STILL public money subsidizing the project. Whether it’s a direct grant or a tax credit is just a different mechanism for the same outcome. I do not care about how people try to play word games with reality. My criticism has never been about whether this is common. It absolutely is. Canada, the UK, and many EU countries do this. I personally do not believe in it and would prefer governments altogether stay out of this area of “support”. It creates an uneven playing field for developers and games become made to thread that needle of requirements instead of the vision. Ultimately, my main point is that taxpayers are still partially footing the bill for projects they had no say in funding. The fact that it’s ‘standard industry practice’ doesn’t just automatically make something good policy. In fact, seeing where the industry is right now, I’m a bit perplexed how ANYONE could think otherwise, UNLESS they or their company was benefiting from said “breaks” Hmm 🤔

@skyrise77 Tax credits are amounts you can subtract from your tax expenses. It isn't money handled to you by the government but an incentive, nobody foots the the bill when they are given. If u got a Tax charge of 75 k and tax credits of 150k u can eliminate that tax charge.1/2

@dreemurr_landon @SmashJT Tax credits aren't money given to Gane devs, they are a incentive with which they can neutralize or reduce the tax a company owes on net profit. 75000 in tax credits can reduce 50000 taxes to zero. Remaining tax credits would be 25000,which can be used agin next year

@SmashJT Dude you need money to make a game in the first place, a government financing cultural project is normal, the criterion are kinda bad for Italy, but beside that it is normal practice, like how are you planning to pay the programmers if the game has not sold anything yet?

🚨BREAKING SMASH JT EXCLUSIVE🚨 I've discovered where the funding for 1348: Ex Voto actually came from… and it’s WAY worse than we thought. After digging into Italian public financial records, I found out that the developer Sedleo SRL received €650,131 in government tax credits plus another €6,000 in grants from the Italian Ministry of Culture between 2021 and 2024. That's $745,563.07 in USD for those counting. Yes. This game was heavily funded w/taxpayer money to once again, push propaganda for the state. The justification? The Italian government’s cultural commission officially classified the game as a “work of cultural value.” Let that sink in. Medieval Lesbians to push an LGBTQ+ Agenda once again. So this project wasn’t just a private studio making a risky or stupid 'creative' bet... It was subsidized by the state, using a MASSIVE cultural grant program designed to promote media that supposedly represents Italian heritage and culture. And the receipts exist. The funding appears in Italy’s Registro Nazionale degli Aiuti di Stato, the national transparency database where every government subsidy to companies HAVE TO BE legally be recorded. In total the public support tied to this project is €656,131 (around $750k USD). WTAF!? That number is important because the program only covers about 25% of eligible development costs, meaning the total production budget for the game was likely several million euros. Which means taxpayers helped bankroll the development of this game under the justification that it contributes to “culture.” I want to thank an anonymous tipster who pointed me right direction and find the registry records. Everything referenced here is public information. My tipster is in Italy, and many of these Italian websites have some... hurtles to jump through for foreigners to view. This is a pretty wild discovery because it shows that the project didn’t just 'appear' out of nowhere. It was approved, subsidized, and backed by a government cultural funding program. And if this is where the funding trail leads… there most likely will be EVEN MORE behind the scenes.
