@stevesi In reality its probably tiered. Peer companies converge on salary ranges for particular titles.

@stevesi Key levels/titles, such as Director, Sr. Director always get mapped from the internal system to the valley norms. Adding more levels is fine, but you still have to get people to the ‘landing zones’ that define success in the broader industry.

@reillyusa Plus prices for new phones are insane. Many people do not need/want so many features that are just bloat. Newer also doesn't always mean better (e.g., iPhone 14)!

The newer “features” in most hardware is not enough to force people to buy them at the same refresh rate, nor are the carriers offering new hardware deals like they used to. Not rocket science.

@reillyusa Two options :- stay current always and trade in for high value when the first offer appears. Expensive but always current. Alternative:- ride out the hardware life cycle and assume no trade in value. H/W failure risk VS new features for >$
