@SaffronOlive I think it’s actually better that they don’t focus on competitive play. Very very few people can make a living off competitive play. Not everyone can be LSV. Many people I know went into debt trying to be a pro, when it should be a hobby.

I think it's can be easy to miss that the problem isn't a focus on Commander or UB sets, it's the lack of focus on competitive play. Wizards makes billions. It doesn't need to be a binary choice between casual and competitive. They can do both.

@PleasantKenobi It's not brainrot. As a limited person who never ever uses the cards or packs I receive from drafts anyway, I really don't care that it's phantom. Because this isn't MTGO where you could just sell the cards, I don't really care that it's phantom or not.

According to the Wizards stream they are dropping the rate at which cards from the reprint sheet show up in play boosters from 1 in 3 (for Final Fantasy) to 1 in 24 for Avatar. Apparently making $200 million in a day wasn't enough and they need to squeeze us a bit more. Sad.

Vivi's biggest weakness is that it dies without doing anything. By itself, it's basically another removal check creature, and we have a ton of those. The problem is that Agatha's Soul Cauldron turns Vivi's biggest weakness into a strength because you want it in the graveyard.

The price of collector booster boxes doesn't really matter. Fancy versions being expensive is fine and arguably even good for the game. On the other hand, Final Fantasy play boosters boxes being $220 ($100+ more than Dragonstorm or Aetherdrift) is a huge issue.
