Wajir town from the sky! There’s movement everywhere, people, cars, a town that’s clearly alive and growing. And one thing stands out immediately… the roads are wide. Spacious. Open. You can actually see the town breathe. This is a different side of Northern Kenya. And now, something big is coming. Wajir is set to host Madaraka Day, the first time a county in Northern Kenya is holding a major national celebration. You can feel it… this place is stepping into its moment. This is Wajir. This is how we are getting into the weekend mode! In a world rushing forward, some communities choose to move with rhythm, not speed. No filters. No edits. Just life as it is. 📸 Photo by PNTV Africa #TellingOurStoriesOurWay #Rendile #MountKulal #Marsabit

Kenya's Drylands: • Cover 70% of Kenya • Support millions of livelihoods • Host most of the country’s livestock • Contain critical ecosystems and rangelands • Contribute significantly to local economies Yet these regions remain under-invested, under-planned, and often misunderstood. Tomorrow, in partnership with @Landesa_Global we convene stakeholders for the Community Investor Framework Validation Workshop, a critical step toward shaping how investment in drylands can be more inclusive, responsible, and aligned with community realities. Sustainable development in Kenya will depend on how we manage land, rangelands, water, livestock systems, and governance, but also on how we design and direct investment into these systems. Drylands are not marginal areas , they are central to Kenya’s future. @PPGKenya @FCDCKenya @climate_ke @NamatiKenya @christensenfund @NRT_Kenya @SwissDevCoop @NLinKenya @mercycorps @ASALs_Regional @NDMA_Kenya

Ever heard of the Rendille people? Not Maasai. Not Samburu but Rendille. This is Korr in Marsabit County. One of their homes. Out here, life moves with the animals. No rush, just the pastoralist rhythm. And when you are here, you really feel how vast Kenya 🇰🇪 is. The colors, the people, the livestock, the land… it all just comes together. It’s simple, but it’s everything. This is Korr. @PNTVAfrica #TellingOurStoriesOurWay

From the highlands of Kenya down to the Waso Plains, we followed the Ewaso Nyiro River all the way to the Lorian Swamp. Known as “the brown waters” in Maa and “Gootu” to the Borana, this river has always been more than just water. It feeds livestock, sustains communities, and shapes everyday life. It’s not just a river, it’s part of who pastoralists are. Song by Lemarti PNTV Africa #TellingOurStoriesOurWay

A livestock health intervention has been rolled out in Habaswein, Wajir County, to protect sheep and goats affected by the ongoing drought. The initiative is being implemented by the Kenya Red Cross in collaboration with the Wajir County Department of Veterinary Services, with support from the British Red Cross. The exercise includes vaccination against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), deworming, treatment of infections, and advisory support to pastoralists. Officials say the intervention aims to safeguard livestock and protect livelihoods in drought-affected communities. #PNTVTellingOurStoriesOurWay

Analogue sirudi tena! Analogue sirudi tena! Mimi naenda Digitali! Today in Nairobi, the @FCDCKenya Frontier Counties Development Council and the @Raspberry_Pi Foundation convened national and county education leaders to strengthen ICT learning in schools. The meeting brought together the Ministry of Education, @UNICEFKenya, county education executives, and development partners to align policy with practical implementation in classrooms across frontier counties. At the heart of the discussions was a shared priority ensuring learners in ASAL and frontier regions are not left behind as education becomes increasingly digital. From policy to partnership, the focus was clear: scale what works and deliver real impact where it matters most. #PNTVAfrica #TellingOurStoriesOurWay #DigitalEducation #FrontierCounties

Government Releases KSh 778 Million for ASAL Households Amid Worsening Drought As drought conditions intensify across Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), the National Government, through the National Drought Management Authority @NDMA_Kenya has released KSh 778,536,900 in cash transfers. The funds will support 133,101 poor and vulnerable households under the Hunger Safety Net Programme across eight counties, providing critical relief to families hardest hit by food insecurity and water shortages. This disbursement is part of a broader, coordinated multi-sectoral drought response aimed at protecting lives, safeguarding livelihoods, and cushioning communities through timely and targeted interventions. For many households in Northern Kenya and other ASAL regions, these cash transfers offer much-needed support during a difficult season. PNTV Africa #TellingOurStoriesOurWay #EndingDroughtEmergencies

For over 30 years, Gerriley struggled with water scarcity. 15 failed drilling attempts. Years of hardship. Today, water flows. Serving 3,000 households and supporting nearly 5,000 livestock daily, the Gerriley Borehole is transforming lives in Wajir South, just 10km from the Kenya–Somalia border. “What you are seeing today is nothing short of a miracle.” Hon @Moadow - Wajir South As families observe Ramadhan, access to clean and reliable water brings relief, easing daily struggles and strengthening communities as they wait for the next rains. @UKinKenya #Deriswanaag

Today marks the anniversary of the Wagalla Massacre. In February 1984, thousands of innocent people were rounded up at Wagalla Airstrip in Wajir. Many lost their lives. What happened there remains one of the gravest injustices in Kenya’s history. For years, this story was rarely spoken about outside the region. Today, a few monuments stand at the site though run down, as reminders of what happened. More than four decades later, elders and families still gather to pray and remember those who were lost. Wagalla is part of our national history. It should never be forgotten. REMEMBER WAGALLA. Song courtesy of Abdihakeem Jabarti Carbeed Heesti Wagalla #PNTVTellingOurStoriesOurWay

For decades, Northern Kenya, from Marsabit, Wajir, Mandera, Isiolo and Garissa to Turkana was framed through the lens of security, drought, and marginalisation, and was rarely seen as an economic frontier. That narrative is slowly shifting! This is Garissa! The upgrade of the Garissa Airstrip is expected to boost connectivity, trade, and jobs opening the region to new opportunities. #PNTV #TellingOurStoriesOurWay
