#News: Mayor Steve Rotheram has welcomed the Government's announcement on new powers to create an overnight accommodation levy that will unlock a multi-million pound boost for the region's tourism economy. The Mayor has led the campaign for the levy's introduction and its success ensures England will now be in step with similar systems in Scotland and other European countries where such a levy is reinvested in tourism, culture, and infrastructure. Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region emphasised this new power will allow regions to inject hundreds of millions pounds over the coming decade to build a more sustainable future for their visitor economies. Liverpool currently has a form of tourism tax operated under the city’s Accommodation BID, which runs until December 2027. The new levy will be introduced after that date and will feature two important distinctions – a levy for the entire city region which will also include AirBnB properties. The region's visitor economy is currently worth more than £6bn a year and supports over 55,000 local jobs. Full story at: liverpoolcityregion-ca.gov.uk/news/mayor-ste…

Including the perspective of those with lived experience is key to our work with the Centre for Homelessness Impact (CHI), local authorities and wider partners to tackle homelessness in the city region. This week our Lived Experience group met to discuss their thoughts as we prepare for the creation of a cross-sector homelessness taskforce. #OurLiverpoolCityRegion

These 3 simple checks take minutes, but could save you £££ and keep criminals out of your home. If you don’t check who takes your rubbish, you could be fined when it’s fly-tipped. Don’t get caught out, avoid a #RubbishDeal

🎄We’re getting into the festive spirit early at the Combined Authority, with the help of the talented schoolchildren of St. Bede's Catholic Junior School in Widnes. Armed with pens, paper and glitter, pupils in every year group took part in a special art class to design this year’s Christmas Cards for Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region and Chief Executive Katherine Fairclough. The Mayor and Katherine now have the tough job of whittling down the 20 best entries to the two winning designs – which will then adorn the official cards sent across the City Region and beyond to politicians, businesses, partners, stakeholders and our very own staff.
