@AtheistTakes Anyone who wants to argue that atheists are honest people who just want to show you the truth needs to take a look at this post, and then go read the passage. This man not just wrong. He is a liar.

@RisingDisciples @JeffVanderstelt Well... that's at least one of the points. But I'd glorify Christ over the church first and foremost.
English

@PLinMadison @JeffVanderstelt That "storming the will" must explain why the Western, institutional Church is such a compelling force for good and righteousness in a dark & dying culture and society.
English

🤔 Perhaps because what we label as "the church" is not genuine biblical Ecclesia, @JeffVanderstelt?

@NarniaWeb You didn't love it if you grew up and decided to redo it without all the things that made it great in the first place. You saw an emotional response that you could exploit for your own personal gain or sociopolitical ideology.

Greta Gerwig breaks her near two-year silence on adapting ‘Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew’ by C.S. Lewis.
“It’s all very under wraps right now, but it’s something that I’m just so thrilled about because it was the book of my childhood. It was the book series that I loved, and I lived through, and I spent so much time imagining myself inside of Narnia … It’s been a joy and an honor to be the person who gets to imagine this universe.”
These are her first public comments about Narnia since May 2024.

@jondelarroz Takes real courage and heroism to choose self over someone else and refuse to sacrifice any of your own goals and aspirations for life...

Chuck Norris can take on anything but death. None of us will escape that. But in Christ, death becomes victory.
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Co 15:56–57.

@WallStreetApes @JeannieGiering I took law school loans for 4 years (I went part time at night) totaling $96k for the years 1999-2003.
I’ve been paying $345 a month since 2004 which is about $92k.
But somehow, I still owe $33k.

American logs into her federal student aid account so we can see her actual loans and payments
- She took out a $49,548.74 loan
- She’s made 120 payments, paying $25,558.36
- Her current balance is $50,121.33
So after paying $25,558.36, she now owes more than she took out
“It's all such a scam”

@ProvisionistP Yeah I was under the impression that Calvinism teaches that we don't even WANT to do good.
English

Except that doesn't match how the Bible describe the process of salvation and God's activity. The Bible's pretty clear that God desires all to be saved, but will not save unless they seek Him out.
Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. - Is 59:1–2
None of this is about God's ability or inability. His desire is that people come to Him in faith with a desire to be in fellowship with Him. If His desire is that this is done willingly, then every response to the gospel fulfills His will. If I reject the gospel, I fulfill God's will because in my darkness I have refused to repent, and His holiness is confirmed. If I accept the gospel, I confess that His way is right, and I can be added to the body of Christ, and I glorify Him and His holiness is again confirmed.
You're using a definition of God's will and God's power that is foreign to scripture, which is why you have to invent this doctrinal framework from a select few verses, which allows you to ignore the VAST evidence of scripture that contradicts it.

“Daddy, what are Arminians?”
“They are the people who believe God wants to save everyone but fails.”
Timothy Renfro@MrTimothyRenfro
"Daddy, what are Calvinists?" "They are people who believe that God does not want to save everyone."

How many does this post hit: For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, - 2 Ti 3:2–4.

This is a vital question that Mormons need to answer.

Really disappointing to see something like Dune fall into comic book slop tropes like bringing back characters from the dead

@JustinBerkobien Do you approve of megachurch pastors, podcast pastors or chicken al pastors? (I'm assuming that last one was a joke... although pork al pastor is much to be preferred, IMO.)

Job 31:18 says he guided the widow from his mother's womb. We all know what that means. It's no different from saying "That kid was born with a football in his hand." It's hyperbole - when David talks about being brought forth in iniquity he's talking about the depth and severity of his own sin. He's not literally saying he was a sinner the second he came into the world.

@Atomixion2 @AtheistTakes No bluffing at all. I really did read several things today and your post absolutely was far and away the most unintentionally ironic of those.
