@PaoloBonini6 In addition, aren't most plasma proteins turning over within a few weeks anyway, or have a half life measured in weeks rather than years? In other words, isn't a 101-year old's plasma is just as fresh as that of a 1-year old?

Replacing plasma and claiming to reverse aging based on proteomic clocks is a fundamental misunderstanding of how predictive models work. These models estimate biological age using correlations, not causation. Proteomic aging clocks rely on biomarker patterns observed in the data they’re trained on. Changing those biomarkers may alter the clock’s output, but it doesn’t mean you’ve actually reversed the biological processes of aging. Correlation ≠ causation. Biomarkers in these models are predictors of aging, not necessarily drivers of it. Manipulating them might ‘fool’ the model, but that doesn’t guarantee any real impact on the underlying biology. Don’t confuse model-driven estimates of age with real biological change. Predictive tools are useful but limited. Reversing aging requires more than tweaking markers—it demands understanding and addressing root biological mechanisms.

I am no longer injecting my son's blood. I've upgraded to something else: total plasma exchange. Steps: 1. Take out all blood from body 2. Separate plasma from blood 3. Replace plasma with 5% albumin & IVIG Here's my bag of plasma. Who wants it? 🧵

@ProteomicsNews @neely615 @timp0 Thank you for saying what I have been saying along. We need to think bigger and communicate better with the rest of the scientific community.

@neely615 Why? There are more pros than cons. We are more flexible to structure our days and time. I got more breaks and exercise done as well.

I’m at a conference today. The organisers just told me that I can’t bring my daughter to the networking session or the dinner tonight. I couldn’t get a babysitter. This is one of those times, as a single parent, that you really miss out. It felt like a gut punch.

@chrashwood What if we remove all the oxygen from the lab and have the lab staff wear SCBA gear?

@pwilmarth I get you. Like any new technology, it attracts a lot of attention. I hope we will see some joint adventures of combined domain expertises. Otherwise, it could be a waste of time, efforts, and resources.

@neely615 probably me. I have spent a lot of time pondering contentedness. My goals in career are different now than at the beginning. I'm also trying to be happy in what I have now, and not consumed by a desire for 'more'
