@ChessvisionAI @chesscom My blitz is generally always like 100-200 points lower than my Rapid. Blitz peak is 1900.

@PMorphyLives @chesscom Congrats! How’re you doing in blitz? I got my 2000 rapid a few months ago after 9 years but for blitz I’m struggling to break 1800. Players poll is different but what surprised me is that I always assumed I can reach higher blitz rating than rapid

@ChessUnlock @chesscom Play 15+10 or slower. Tactics and analyzing your games should take you to 1800. I've consistently spent most of my chess time on openings and usually have an opening advantage, so I think what took me from 1800 -> 2000 was working on converting advantages.

I extend this to 60 minutes in order to play 15+10, but this works incredibly well for me. I use an electronic chess board to help this practice translate to OTB.

The main criticism of tiebreaks being "random" is that different tiebreak systems could lead to different outcomes.
In the Grand Swiss, Bluebaum would have qualified under ANY of the tiebreak choices.
Every metric suggests he was the strongest of the tied players.
Peter Heine Nielsen@PHChess
As people write that Blübaum deserved to qualify, I generally agree and it is not what I want to discuss. But if we agree on the premise that it was deserved, why are we OK with it depending on the result in Erigaisi-Keymer? My point is that Swiss are too random.

@PHChess @chessable I have been learning Techniques of Positional Play through your Chessable videos and it is a huge treat. Grateful for both your excellent chess instruction and your relentless ideological consistency in calling the evil in the chess world.

I won a @chessable award! 🥇
Very surprised, thanks a lot to everybody who voted for, and appreciated my course.

Today's training game (classical) was a Ruy Lopez where I played a line from @FabianoCaruana's @ChessBase course. I broke through on the queenside with a tactic and then Black's position collapsed. Really happy with this one and enjoying learning the Spanish in general.

@Kasparov63 Appreciate your uncompromising style applied to showing others the way in areas outside of chess. Unique amongst World Champions and why it will likely be a century until there is another contender for GOAT

Nothing demonstrates better that Zelensky has become a tremendous leader than his self-control in the face of such demeaning, morally vacuous lines of questioning. The rage and horror must be overwhelming. Superhuman.

Won my first classical training game of 2025. Not a perfect game as I let the advantage slip, but opening prep from @NikolaosNtirlis's new @QualityChess book put me in an excellent position... Still need to learn the themes and plans, for example maybe 13.a5 instead of what I did

Hard to argue with that!!! Karpov/Kasparov going for 5 months with 48 games in 1984.... but I guess three blitz games is enough in 2024!

@GmNaroditsky @TakeTakeTakeApp @taketaketake Congratulations on your amazing finish. Particularly poetic that you ended up beating Dubov on tiebreaks. Your professionalism and tenacity are a model for the community

@TakeTakeTakeApp @Taketaketake, this isn't what I said, nor what I meant, and the whole point of my interview was that we should move on from the BS. Please take this down rather than misquoting what I said in the heat of the moment.

Just got my highest rated blitz victory on @chesscom of the last six months against an 1817. I only knew high level ideas after 10.h3, but worked out pretty well!!

Today's training game (rapid) was my highest rated win on Lichess! My opponent used an old line in the ...Qa5 Scandinavian. They found themselves in an endgame two pawns down and resigned. These days it's critical to delay ...c6, which @fins0905 upcoming course will cover!!
