Police and Prison Reforms Task Force Kenya

The National Taskforce on improvement of terms and conditions of service and other reforms for members of @NPSOfficial_KE & @kenyaprisons was established by The President of The Republic of Kenya, H.E @WilliamsRuto and pursuant to this a gazette notice dated 21/12/22 was issued.

Kericho County DCC Mr. Stephen Orinde facilitated the public participation forum that took place at the County Headquarters under the direction of task force members Commissioner John Ole Muyaki & Md. Terry Chebet Maina. #NYSReforms #HudumaKwaTaifa

Ms. Loice Koech, a representative from NYS, and task force member Md. Anne Ireri at the NYS Yatta Complex in Machakos County earlier today. They received proposals from the officers & service members.

The public hearing for Laikipia County was presided over by task force members Mr. Moffat Kangi and Md. Elizabeth Sivi at the Daiga ACK Social Hall earlier today. The meeting was officially opened by the County Commissioner, Mr. Joseph Kanyiri. #NYSReforms #HudumaKwaTaifa

Mr. Moses K. Lilan, the Homa Bay County Commissioner, received the task force team, led by Md. Jane Chege. The county security team, which had accompanied the CC, shared its opinions on how to improve the conditions of NYS.

The team has underseen the public hearing and visited private officers who are currently participating in an engagement program with them at the NYS Bura Basin camp, a mechanical engineering services and training facility. #NYSReforms #HudumaKwaTaifa

Sheikh Hassan Mohammed, a member of the task force, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy County Commissioner's Office in Hola Tana-River County, alongside his support personnel from the task force secretariat earlier today.

They further received submissions from participants who brought up the issues of under-feeding recruits, companies not acknowledging NYS discharge letters, and better advertising during NYS recruitment programs, among others. #NYSReforms #HudumaKwaTaifa

Team Kiambu made a duty visit on the Deputy County Commissioner of the County earlier today. They were warmly received, for the National Youth Service public hearing & inspection of institutions. The DCC also shared his personal views on the ongoing reforms.

They encouraged young people to take advantage of NYS opportunities & to serve Kenya with patriotism, while making several other recommendations. The team further addressed the press, with regards to the activities of the task force. #NYSReforms #HudumaKwaTaifa

Participants described how they gained discipline & basic life skills in the NYS institution that helped influence their professions when it was a required coursework during the earlier days.

Today in Embu County, task force members Commissioner Doreen Muthaura, MBS & Richard Kirundi, OGW gathered public views on the ongoing NYS reforms from various stakeholders across different sectors in the region.

Later at the same location, a number of stakeholders gave their opinions on the ToRs for consideration. In addition, Md. Roseline oversaw an examination of the NYS Kisumu Field-Unit during which the team evaluated the facility standards and noted the necessary recommendations.

Taskforce member Md. Roseline Odede visited Mr. Obat Masira, the CEO of Mama Grace Onyango Social Center in Kisumu, where the NYS public participation meeting was taking place. She was in company of the Ag. County Commissioner, Mr. Hassan & members of the secretariat.

Mr. David Kariuki, the Commissioner for Migori County, received a visit from task force group led by Md. Jane Chege & Mr. Sammy Chepkwony. The County Security Team & Migori County Government Representatives spoke with Commissioner Kariuki about the desired change for the. . .
