maybe a hot take: i think there is such a thing as too much meat on a sandwich. i consider myself a sandwich connoisseur and the vegetables are a KEY element. the veggie taste needs to be present in every bite and too much meat just overpowers every other ingredient

Idk, actively campaigning against a game out of spite seems really childish to me. I’m not trying to force anyone to play or like Marathon. But it is actually a really good game and I’d hate for the people who DO love it to end up having their game struggle just because negative sentiment is so strong among the people who aren’t engaged with it. Both things can be true at once. You can be gutted that Destiny is ending. And you can just quietly not be interested in Marathon too. You can campaign in favor of Destiny’s future and I’m 100% with you in that effort. And you can also not add fuel to the flames when it comes to campaigning against Marathon.

There's a difference between "you should play Marathon" and "you shouldn't want Marathon to fail" when I talk about this. Again, I think it's a bad outcome for everyone if it does. But I know I'm never going to truly embrace the game unless that PvE hits hard.

@vicious696 Feel like people are always forgetting that putting their games on Playstation is actively funding their own platforms destruction. Your losing core users and Sony is still using Xbox game revenue to hold games off of Xbox.

@DestinLegarie The core gameplay loop has real potential. It’s never going to be destiny but if bungie adds proper pve story elements it could pull in a completely different audience. Extraction shooters with narrative hooks work when they’re done right

I do not see a world where I start playing Marathon the way I played Destiny. Destiny was Marathon perfected. It has a ton of callbacks to Halo and Marathon. I know there are Marathon fanatics out there but there’s just no world where I see Marathon blowing up. 😔
