Art concept: Our lives are shaped by every experience—the joys, the struggles, the lessons, the passions, and the dreams we carry. When these pieces come together, they create something uniquely beautiful. When I was very young, my parents believed I was non-verbal. For several years. Until my mother discovered that I had been speaking, just not around anyone. I would only speak when I was alone. Feeling uncomfortable talking to or even being around people due to a combination of autism and early trauma. I learned at a very young age, I felt more comfortable communicating through art.  Recently XBOX reached out asking if I was interested in creating background images and Gamerpics for the 25th anniversary celebration. Not only giving me creative freedom but making it clear they wanted the art to represent a part of me, suggesting I take a personal approach when sharing the role gaming has played in my life. I wanted to create a set of scenes that didn’t just show a specific memory or story but scenes that visually express how it feels to remember them. Possibly how other people may feel in their own lives. I wanted the art to express how it felt being alone in those moments. Where the outside world did not exist and I was safe, in my own space. Some details are vivid, some feel more like subtle hints, but the feeling is still powerful to this day. I didn’t realize until I started these designs but this is a part of my life I have not fully revisited until going through the process of this project. It has been an unexpectedly emotional and healing process.  I wanted to show we all get something different from gaming. It weaves through our lives in unique ways depending on what we want or need from the art form. When the outside world did not make sense to me, I had a place to go. Video Games were the first art form to not only provide a place to escape, but taught me it’s possible to express myself through creativity. That other people were out there dreaming, creating experiences and communicating through their art.

I'll report what I've heard about "how Xbox plans to show up on PC" tomorrow. But, there's no evidence Microsoft is planning to quit Steam. Steam is so much income rn. I figure they'd only pull out of Steam if that fact were to change, but I see no reason to think it would.

Wrote some words about @SCSsoftware Truck Sims. I've been feeling pretty down about gaming in general of late. The industry is a mess, I'm burned out, especially on the constant live service grift. I like to play games to chill out at the end of the work day. Then after @BenWilson_x86 basically got me into finally opening up ATS and ETS2 which have been in my Steam library for years, unopened, everything clicked. Hitting the open road has been a blast, and hours just fly by. Much of it has been played on my Steam Deck too. Definitely recommend trying them (though my personal preference still leans towards the American one). windowscentral.com/gaming/pc-gami…
