Today, alongside @RwandaIndustry, @EnabelinRwanda, and the @RwamaganaDistr Vice Mayor for Economic Development and Executive Secretary, we visited the 1st modern brick factory in a potential site for the Industrial building Materials #EcoPark in Rwamagana. Discussions focused on EIP progress and the next steps for implementation.

The event was filled with memorable highlights, including a visit to Mpazi, a presentation on the evolution and achievements of PROECCO, engaging panel discussions on the future of affordable housing, an exhibition showcasing our key milestones, and live music that brought this chapter to a joyful close.

It truly marks the end of an era as we celebrated the Closing Event yesterday, celebrating 12 years of the PROECCO Programme. We were joined by esteemed partners; @SwissDevCoop @RwandaInfra @CityofKigali @GGGI_Rwanda @EnabelinRwanda @RTB_Rwanda @Uni_Rwanda @RwandaEngineers, brickmakers, Mpazi CWGs, among others.

Today marked the official closing of the "Promoting Off-Farm Employment and Income through Climate-Responsive Construction Material Production -(PROECCO) programme in #Rwanda. The City of Kigali Mayor @dusengiyumvas expressed gratitude to the Swiss Government, supported by its Embassy in #Kigali and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, for making this initiative possible. Mayor Samuel Dusengiyumva highlighted that PROECCO has effectively contributed to addressing the housing shortage by delivering 793 dwelling units in Mpazi and a demonstration unit in Gikondo, all affordable to our communities. Since 2013, the project has empowered rural and peri-urban brick cooperatives, entrepreneurs, and investors with affordable, innovative brick production technologies, enhancing Rwanda's construction landscape.

The EIP is set to draw in more investors in building materials while empowering the community with decent #jobcreation and #skillstransfer. Together, we're tackling the rising demand for affordable, #EcoFriendly housing solutions.
