Exactly — we're all talking to each other, not to the people who actually have the problem. I keep thinking: the person who needs my goal tracking app isn't on indie hacker Twitter. They're googling "how to stick to new year goals" in January and "why do I keep failing my goals" in March. Maybe the real distribution is being where the pain is, not where the builders are. And it is not a good time for yearly goal tracker now

@YahhiMurr yeah same here honestly PH felt good for a day but nothing after directories didn’t do much either only thing that actually worked a bit was just talking to people in replies starting to feel like we’re all posting… but not really where people are actually asking

Same boat. Things I've tried so far: - Product Hunt launch — got a badge, almost zero lasting users - Posting on X daily for 2 months — slow but real conversations - TikTok video of the product — too early to tell - Submitting to app directories (AlternativeTo, FutureTools, etc.) - Answering tweets like this one honestly instead of pitching What actually moved the needle? Nothing dramatic yet. But the honest build-in-public posts get 10x more engagement than "check out my app" posts. Distribution is brutal. Solidarity.

You don’t need more marketing. You need better visibility. There are people already asking for what you’re building. But instead, we: Post more. Run ads. Wait. Hoping something works. That’s not marketing. That’s guessing.

I’m trying to understand something. Why is getting the first 10 users so hard? Is it: A. No distribution B. No trust C. People don’t care D. Something else? Would love honest answers.
