The Met Office has issued an Amber weather warning for heavy and persistent snow affecting parts of Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Angus, Highland, Orkney and Shetland. Warning is in place from 18:00 on Sunday, 4 Jan until 10:00 on Monday, 5 Jan. More: orlo.uk/V8M27

The A98 between Buckie and Portgordon continues to be impacted by snow. The road is only passable with care and motorists are reminded to only travel if absolutely necessary.

About 9pm on 31/12/2025, a window in a door was smashed at an address in Newmill Rd, Elgin. A large concrete block was used to cause the damage. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has info, is asked to contact Police on 101 ref 3211 of 31/12

The A96 near Lhanbryde, Elgin has re-opened following a three vehicle crash that was reported around 2.55pm on Thursday, 6 November, 2025. Emergency services attended and two men were taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing.
