As the second phase of polling concludes in West Bengal on April 29, attention turns to the counting day on May 4. The state has witnessed significant shifts in its political landscape over the past few elections.
In the last three Assembly elections, the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) steadily increased its seat share from 184 in 2011 to 215 in 2021. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which did not win a single seat in 2011, emerged as the primary opposition in 2021 with 77 seats, replacing the Left Front and the Indian National Congress.
