סבב הלחימה הנוכחי, לא משרת אף מטרה אסטרטגית של מדינת ישראל.
אחרי ההודעה האיראנית על הפסקת השיגורים אפשר כבר לומר שהמהלך הנוכחי לא קידם את הפלת המשטר, לא קידם את חיסול תוכנית הטילים הבליסטיים, לא קידם את חיסול תוכנית הגרעין, לא מקדם את מיטוט החיזבאללה בלבנון, הוא לא היה מתואם עם האמריקאים ולא עם בעלי בריתנו במפרץ.
הממשלה שלחה את אזרחיה לשבת במקלטים, בתי הספר סגורים, הכלכלה משותקת, בלי שהיתה לכל זה שום מטרה איסטרטגית שמישהו יכול להבין, כולל בתוך מערכת הבטחון.
אזרחי ישראל יכולים לשאת כמעט כל דבר. יש פה עם חזק, סבלני, עם יכולת עמידה נדירה, אבל אנחנו לא נתינים ולא בובות בתיאטרון של אף אחד. אזרחים במדינה דמוקרטית זכאים לדעת למה מבקשים מהם להקריב קורבנות? מהי המטרה? מהי התוצאה האופטימלית? מהם הסיכונים? מה תהליך קבלת ההחלטות?
הממשלה לא הסבירה את מטרת סבב הלחימה הנוכחי, לא מפני שזה סוד, אלא מפני שאין לה הסבר. הנהגה שאי אפשר לסמוך עליה, שפישלה ונכשלה בעזה, פישלה ונכשלה בלבנון, פישלה ונכשלה באיראן, מפשלת ונכשלת ביהודה ושומרון, רוצה שנסמוך עליה, בלי להסביר למה או בשביל מה.
