"Vapor phase deposition of perovskite photovoltaics: short track to commercialization?"
Check out this new perspective paper on the possible commercialisation routes for #perovskite #solarcells!

@suhasm Honestly, in the end I gave up and ended up on WordPress.
English

@PV_Physicist I'm trying to do the same now Juliane :) Wondering if you found any Jekyll themes you liked?

@BeckerLabCRTD @MadS100tist Wow! Wo bekommt man sowas? Das ist ein Katalog durch den ich gern Mal blättern würde.

Podcast recording is today! At 20:00 German time. Livestream will be here:

English

This year, I am attending the CCC for the first time and thanks to @kohlenpod and @simoneherpich will immediately get to be on a stage at primetime!
Come and listen to our attempt to record a podcast while explaining solar energy!

@brookepauley98 @Kohlenpod @SimoneHerpich Some stuff will be live streamed, I do not yet know if our slot is streamed and or translated (podcast is in German). Will update once I know more!

@thiebes I am very curious to see what it is like! The event is a big deal in the German (and possibly international) hacker / IT / maker / privacy advocacy world.

@lyssaslounge Here is a whole treasure trove of more of these odd words: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Januswort
Enjoy!
English

@lyssaslounge The other day I had a long conversation about 'umfahren' and 'umfahren' and how they mean opposite things. "Du sollst den Radfahrer umfahren." Is a very strange sentence. The German learner was baffled.

Hi @SnowFlyProject ! I saw one of your friends at Feldberg Mountain in Germany today. Any idea which snowfly species it might be?

@SmaragdinaVisio @Peters_Glen @hausfath @IEA The practical engineering points have already been well explored. For example for solar a production capacity on the terawatt scale is needed and the challenges are well known. Like any transition it will need some effort but it is entirely feasible. arxiv.org/abs/2306.13375
English

An interesting assessment would be to understand the rate at which low carbon energy supplies would have to be scaled up to replace energy loss due to non consumption of fossil fuel, and what this actually will mean in practice- ie. how many wind, solar farms and nuclear power stations need to be built in the UK, over the same timeframe, and whether from a purely practical, engineering and planning standpoint, it is currently feasible. We know what’s needed, but what is actually going to happen in the real world of economics, politics and social licence to operate. I suspect things will move much more slowly without massive and radical government intervention.
English

In case you missed it, this is what happens to fossil fuels and clean energy in a typical 1.5°C scenario, this one from the @IEA Net Zero Emissions in 2050 scenario.

Writing a review paper is a ton of work and I am glad my PhD students were willing to take that on. Mina, Maryam and their co-authors produced an excellent overview over perovskite based triple junction solar cells which you can find here:
BorchertLab@JBorchertLab
Building on perovskite based tandems some researchers are now exploring perovskite based triple junction solar cells. Our PhD students Mina and Maryam Heydarian gathered a great team of co-authors to summarise the current state of the art. Check it out! pubs.rsc.org/en/Content/Art…

@Simon_Hammann I don't use it any more. My account has been dormant for a long time without even basic updates. Will try to get around to deleting it soon.
