Almost 40 years ago on Feb. 5, 1985, I covered Dakota Wesleyan's 125-124 win over Sioux Falls College (now University of Sioux Falls). Alan Miller made the two game-winning free throws with five seconds left in overtime. SFC had a six-point lead with 42 seconds left in regulation. However, Miller made a three-pointer and four free throws to force the overtime. His last FT tied the game at 113 and sent the game into overtime. Alan Miller (below) scored 55 for the Tigers. It broke the school and South Dakota college scoring record for a men’s basketball game that was set in 1975 by Alan’s brother Chris Miller. The Cougars got 31 points from Luther Hippe (below with Duane Wince on floor). Here is the box score from an instant classic before instant classics existed. On a walk tonight with my wife when a young lady, alone in her car, drives by us. She is wearing a mask to protect herself and others from CoronaVirus but she was also texting while she was driving! 🤷‍♂️
