@BigGameBrent @HoegLaw Reviewers are supposed to give their thoughts and opinions on a game. If you actually follow a specific critic you'll eventually see what games they like and which ones they don't.

@HoegLaw Reviewers are supposed to give insight into how the product is. The fact that review companies are so disconnected from the consumer is exactly why they’re failing and are a laughing stock of the industry now.

“IGN rated Concord and Highguard a 7, and they both went out of service due to being a massive flop. IGN also gives Dragon Age: The Veilguard a 9, and it was a commercial failure.” What are we doing here? Is the review of a Michael Bay movie that gives it a 3 wrong because it makes a fortune? Is the review of an Oscar bait movie that gives it a 10 wrong because it doesn’t? The job of a media review is not to tell you what will sell, but how a reviewer evaluates its quality. That’s all.

@Jkr_demigod @ymnis_v1 I have never, ever heard anyone complain about the control in BOTW, it's one of the most smooth, well crafted control systems in gaming. Same with bugs, and totk especially with ultrahand was so easy on the bugs, and especially not surface level mechanics. Did you even play?

apparently, they kept the story hidden pre launch because there’s no story to show. pros: - world is genuinely beautiful. - soundtrack is strong. - combat can be fun, especially boss fights. - a handful of side quest chains (mainly greymane stuff) actually have substance. - if you want a 80–100 hour “turn your brain off” game, it delivers. cons: - main story is disconnected filler stitched together. - you can play 40+ hours and nothing meaningful happens narratively. - NPCs are basically props. - quests are drip fed through menus instead of discovered organically. - heavy MMO DNA. fetch quests, bounties, repetition everywhere. - forced grinding via stat checks (boss fights). the game straight up stops you until you farm upgrades. - early game is extremely restricted despite the “freedom” marketing. - enemy variety is awful early on (you’re fighting the same bandits for tens of hours). - batshit padding (178 kill bandit camps, repeated objectives, respawns). - inventory system is almost broken level bad (can’t place items in storage, only remove, constant micromanagement). - side quests often aren’t even voiced properly. - many systems exist just to exist with no depth. - bosses are inconsistent. some great, some literal floating clouds. - pacing is terrible. the game hoards the good content and buries it under hours of filler. youtu.be/czQEIY1xpH4?si…

Botw gets away with it because it has Zelda in the title. People know and and love this franchises to a fault. No one knows about this Pearl Abyss made game.

There’s a reason I do not play online fps games. I decided to try Overwatch because there is a cat character. Tell me why, while I’m still brand new, I get matched with people 30+ levels higher and then they start bullying me in chat for not knowing how to play yet.
