First expanded World Cup draw will be a huge moment. Exciting times to see which big teams will be drawn to face relatively unknown minnows and countries who rarely feature in world cups like Jordan, Kazakhstan and Scotland #Fifa #FIFAWorldCup #WorldCup2026

Piers dropping truth bombs like they're yesterday's tabloid headlines—calling out the firebrand who's all guts, no grace. Valentina's got the MAGA megaphone cranked to eleven, but that migrant shade? Pot, meet kettle in a border standoff. Trump's the wildcard here; will he swat the hornet or let the hive buzz? Either way, Texas primaries just got spicier than a vindaloo grudge match. Who's your money on for the takedown? 🇺🇸

You’re a disgusting bigot, and ironically, a migrant to the US who should be deported yourself for fuelling racial hatred. It’s shameful that the Republican Party is letting you represent it in the 31st Congressional District in Tx. I hope @realDonaldTrump stops you.

I’ve done more for the little girls in the UK than Piers Morgan has in his entire career which he owes to President Trump. I have everything @piersmorgan lacks. God, Guns, & Guts. MAGA🇺🇸

If a grown man wants to be a millionaire and live his luxury lifestyle? Fine. I don’t have to approve, but that’s his choice. It’s a free country. But the moment he starts pretending he’s “working class” to score political points? No. Absolutely not. Rich men playing dress-up as ordinary workers so they can win votes or sympathy? That’s a firm NO from me. No millionaires cosplaying poverty. Not complicated. When it comes to kids? Even worse. Pushing the idea that a youngster from a normal household should look up to ultra-wealthy politicians who pretend to share their struggles? That’s manipulative and twisted. It should be illegal for rich elites to mislead people about who they are. I don’t want those phoney “working class hero” photo-ops anywhere definitely not in schools, community centres, or hospitals where real working people actually struggle. And these billionaire-funded parties running “relatability campaigns”? It will keep creeping further next thing you know, they’ll be claiming they grew up on minimum wage. No. The answer is no. It’s dishonest, it’s unethical, and people deserve the truth. Anyone in a position of authority who lies about being working class just to exploit ordinary people? They should be held accountable. Leave working-class identity to the working class.

My view on this gender debate is quite simple. If a grown man wants to dress up as a woman, and pretend that he’s a woman? Fine. I certainly don’t approve, and I will not call him a woman, but that’s his decision. It’s a free country. On the strict condition that others are not negatively affected by his actions - eg, if he decides that he wants to compete in women’s sport or intrude in women-only spaces? The answer is a firm NO. No men in women’s sports or spaces. Not complicated. When it comes to children? Absolutely not. Pushing this ideology on young boys and girls is sick and twisted. It should be illegal. To suggest that a young boy has been born in the wrong body, and should receive life-altering surgery to ‘resolve’ that? It’s abuse. It’s disgusting. I don’t want those vile flags flown anywhere in the public sector - anywhere. DEFINITELY NOT in schools, toddler play areas, hospitals or wherever else. For the NHS to be conducting trials where children as young as ten are given puberty blockers? It will creep and creep and creep back again. No. The answer is no. It is an unethical experiment. Anybody in a position of authority forcing this ideology on a young boy and girl, potentially leading to permanent physical changes? They should be prosecuted. Leave children alone.

This country: my friend had a super stressful day yesterday. She was smoking a cigarette at Shepherd’s Bush station. Seconds later, she gets a tap on her shoulder. A £200 fine. £200. Seriously? The place reeks of weed, is rife with drug users and petty criminals, and SHE gets targeted by some council busybody on commission?

What is this racist hate speech? Why no diversity? Where’s the multiculturalism? Others on the left should join me in complaining to ofcom about why no Muslims, Sikhs, or even Jews are in this year’s Christmas advert

🎄The 2025 John Lewis Christmas Advert promotes family values, features a normal White British family and shows a Dad giving up the party life for his baby boy. The left will be in meltdown but this is the best Christmas ad in years Woke is dead We are so back

When the Elizabeth line was being built, there were thousands of opinion pieces on if its benefit-to-cost ratio was high enough, on if funding it was fair to non-London cities, on how it could go over budget, etc We are now spending the cash equivalent of an entire Elizabeth line *every year* to pay for the *increase* in disability benefits 2020-now. I do wonder if there will be *any* long term economic benefits of spending this much. I can imagine a counterfactual Britain that doesn’t evaporate ~£20B extra per year on increasing disability benefits and instead spends its on, say, transport projects. After a decade, one Britain has 10 extra Crossrail sized transit projects and the other… the memories of disability benefit consumption? Seems ethereal.
Paul Johnson@PJTheEconomist

ToR for Timms review published. Confirms govt has given up on any savings from PIP. "The review will operate within the OBR's projections for future PIP expenditure". I.e. accepts extraordinary increases. Chart shows increase in spending on disability and incapacity benefits

The combination of Frank’s very basic possession structure and this pivot leads to absolute painful viewing The constant swinging the ball round the back 4 to play up the sides is genuinely Sunday league level possession game Neglecting any progression through midfield is bad enough but when one of your best players is a 10 and doesn’t receive a thing, it’s even worse

The problem with UK politics is this: Everything that they have, compared to America, is just liberal nonsense. They truly do not have a conservative voice whatsoever. None. That is, in politics actively seeking office or in office. It is all very, very, liberal. I feel for them.

@bensmith81 @PeterSweden7 Because what people say in polls and what they actually do in elections are two different things, and if we stripped a government’s mandate to govern every time they become unpopular, a country will never be able to implement difficult but necessary policies

Until a couple years ago, there was a critical mass of academics on Twitter. The platform wasn't pefect but one could participate in interesting discussions and learn stuff. Many academics have left since. Now the timeline is filled with 40-year-old dudes with photos of Japanese anime girls as their profile photos who haven't scratched the surface of life posting racist and sexist ragebaits.
