@JoJoFromJerz @atrupar I was only a child when there were widespread protests against the Vietnam war. Obviously that War went on much longer but maybe the demonstrations need to start earlier. Apart from dreadful loss of life, the idiot president is on the brink of destroying the world economies.

@EvaCatDev You're here 30 years so you know the word 'gobshite.' Unfortunately we have our share of gobshites here. They're a tiny but noisy minority. Give them the 'cluas bhodhar.'

I was born in Sweden. I have lived and worked in Ireland for 30 years. I have 3 Irish/Swedish kids. Today I was told by a person that 'you are not even Irish'. What have we become? Happy St Patrick's Day - I love this country 😟

🇺🇦🇮🇪 Happy #StPatricksDay to all our Irish friends and @dfatirl colleagues! Ireland and Ukraine both know the true value of independence. We sincerely appreciate Ireland’s steadfast support for Ukraine, including the generosity shown to Ukrainians who have found safety and shelter in Ireland, as well as Ireland’s active role in advancing collective European efforts toward a just and enduring peace. We wish the people of Ireland peace, prosperity, and well-being. Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh! ☘️

What really makes me angry lately is how the narrative is slowly changing everywhere. Not long ago the world was saying that russians should feel consequences for this war. That russia should be isolated. That the crimes committed in Ukraine cannot be ignored. And now I see more and more posts saying: “It’s putin’s war, not russian war.” Recently their anthem was played again at international games. Like nothing happened. And every time I see this I think about Bucha. About civilians shot in the streets. About people with their hands tied. About mass graves. How quickly the world forgets.

447 bodies were found in Izium. 414 civilians — 194 men, 215 women, and 5 children. Most of them died violent deaths. Ukrainian prosecutors have identified 13 collaborators suspected of war crimes. During the occupation, they robbed and tortured civilians, holding people in metal containers without food or water while beating information out of them about ATO veterans and Ukrainian soldiers. Among the victims was a 46-year-old Plast scout and assistant to a city council deputy. He was beaten, shot, and his body was dumped near a railway crossing. Izium was occupied by russian forces in early 2022 and liberated later that autumn. Moscow denies everything. But the world cannot let russia get away with this. If humanity still means anything, there must be justice.

Conan O'Brien says he has "incredible empathy for people who have immigrated to another country" after traveling to Ireland and seeing his great-grandfather lived. "I went back to Ireland and I [saw] a great genealogist who said, 'I found where your great-grandfather’s home was.' The home is gone, but he found the little spot where he lived, near the Galbally Mountains. He said, 'I’ll go there and show it to you,' and I said, 'We’ll do it on camera.' "I was expecting to have these jokes loaded up; we had props and funny things we were going to do... But I got there, and I did not expect this because I'm not someone who wears my emotions on my sleeve, but I got emotional. It was very powerful. "This was a very small plot of land. He was a tenant farmer, so it wasn't his. He didn't have money, and he needed to move on because it wasn't working; probably not enough to eat, couldn't sustain. So, he left and went to America, and here I am a couple of generations later. "What's amazing to me is when you have that experience and you stand there, I have incredible empathy for people who have immigrated to another country. It takes an entire lifetime to go to a country where, often, people don't speak the language. They have to spend their entire lives just getting things started for the next generation; it's a whole lifetime that you're feeding into this process. "I was just thinking about this guy, whom I'll never meet, who had to do that. I think I was overcome by the fact that there's a lot of sadness in that story, and in a lot of these stories. People leave not because they think, 'Hey, I just want to go have fun in America.' They leave because they have to." (via Jimmy Kimmel Live)

"The West started the war in Ukraine" - Putin. The most interesting thing is that people believe this lie, and not only in Russia. That is why it is so important to counter propaganda and constantly repeat the facts: The war was started and is being waged by Putin and Russia.

The famous Russian "double tap". Murder people and then murder the first responders trying to help the victims. When the history of this war is written, there will be Irish politicians who were on the wrong side. Those who voted the wrong way in the EUP. @LNBDublin @Kathleensf1

⚡️ Russian forces struck emergency responders as they were dealing with the aftermath of an attack in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the State Emergency Service said. A fire truck was destroyed, and two others were heavily damaged. Firefighters weren't injured, as they were in a safe place at the time of the strike. 📷 DSNS/Telegram

My stomach turns at the thought that someone in Russia can deliberately target Ukrainian civilians including children with ballistic missiles. I hope those in the Russian military responsible pay a very heavy price one day. Ukraine will never forgive such war crimes & rightly so.
Nicolas Tenzer@NTenzer

His name was Hordiy Udovychenko. He was killed on the night of March 7 alongside his mother Olena. He was murdered by the russians for being Ukrainian, just as the Nazis murdered Jewish children for being Jews. And because we, in the West, did not want to take action. Unbearable.

These are Olena Udovichenko and her son Hordii. A Russian missile killed them today. Olena was a teacher in a Kharkiv school, Hordii was a second-grader there. Last night, Russia killed 11 people in Kharkiv, including Olena and Hordii. RIP. When Russia wants to be present at the Biennale, these are the values it represents - war crimes, murders, destruction. This is the real "Russian world", not the "mysterious Russian soul". When Russian soldiers participate in the Paralympics, they represent their crimes - unprovoked aggression against another country. Olena and Hordii will become yet another line in the endless list of Russian war crimes. This cannot be forgiven or overlooked. Russia must answer for its actions.

In Kharkiv, Russians killed two children along with their mothers. During a nighttime attack on the city, a primary school teacher and her son, a second-grade student, were killed in their home. Also, an eighth-grade student from Lyceum No. 16 was killed along with her mother. March 9 will be declared a day of mourning in Kharkiv for those killed by the Russian strike. Search operations at the site of the strike will continue for two days. As of now, the eighth body of a person killed has been found under the rubble of a house in Kharkiv. Condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Russia is a murderous and terrorist state.

Where is the world’s outrage? Overnight, a russian missile wiped out half of an apartment building. 9 people killed so far. Among them — two children: a 9-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. 15 more injured. And the world keeps scrolling.

Kharkiv right now. russian terrorists hit a residential building with a ballistic missile — an ordinary five-story block where people were asleep in their homes. Part of the building is destroyed. At least two people are confirmed dead. People are still trapped under the rubble

Another painful loss for Ukrainian sports. Another child killed by Russia. On the night of March 7, a Russian missile struck a residential building, and one of the victims of the attack was Hordiy Udovychenko. He and his mother Olena were killed together. Young Hordiy played for the hockey team “Bilyi Bars” (White Leopard). Here is how the team responded to the death of the young athlete: “Hordiy was a sincere, kind, and open boy who loved hockey very much, as well as his team and training sessions. We remember his smile, his diligence on the ice, and the joy with which he came to every practice.” Ukraine experiences unspeakable tragedy every day, and every day it loses its future. Eternal memory to the victims of the war…

The death toll in Kharkiv after russian strike has risen to 10, including two children: a 13‑year‑old girl and a 9‑year‑old boy. Another 16 people have been injured‼️ Russia killed these people in the middle of the night in their own homes for being Ukrainian.
