@PaddySmith66 Why not? Better to have competitive teams than teams that get in by default of not being the worst above Newcastle? Would make the Prem more competitive too? Can aim for a top 6 finish giving something else to play for in the season?

They are all quality teams but logistically a nightmare for everyone involved. Cup needs a serious revamp, starting with how 8/10 teams from the Prem qualify? Whilst arguably better URC and T14 teams play in the Challenge Cup.

🔺NEW: South African teams set to abandon European Champions Cup SA Rugby feels combining a northern hemisphere club calendar with a southern hemisphere international programme is unsustainable for player welfare Story by @willgkelleher ⬇️ #Echobox=1778845211" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">thetimes.com/sport/rugby-un…

Former referee Mark Clattenburg's proposed change to stop time-wasting in football: "Football is an entertainment sport, so we need as much playing time as possible. The first time I refereed in the Champions League, only 40 minutes of the 90 were actually played. "The two things I want to happen are that the referee has the power, instead of showing a yellow card to a player wasting time, to reverse the decision. If the player is instructed to take a throw-in and delays it, the throw should immediately go to the opposing team from that spot. "Often, players go to the sideline, bounce the ball, move it forward a long distance, wait for the referee to tell them to return to the original position, wait a little longer, are booked, and the referee writes down the sanction. Then, after about 10 more seconds, they take the throw-in. The player wins. They steal a minute doing that. Instead, if we had the option to reverse the sanction, without booking them, this wouldn't happen. "The other idea is the same but for goal kicks and corner kicks. If the attacker delays on purpose, the sanction is reversed, and they lose the corner, which becomes a goal kick. If the goalkeeper does the same, they go from having defensive control to conceding a corner."

@edwards_callum Montpellier & Stade Francais are not URC. Lions are SA so wouldn’t be included if SA teams leave. The others would compete against the Prem in my view but should not be included instead of Prem teams.

@PaddySmith66 Montpellier, Benetton, Lions, Ulster, Cardiff, Ospreys, Connacht, Stade Francais I reckon they could give 4-8 in the prem a good game. Probably win at home and push them close away.

🚨The South African teams are strongly considering pulling out of the Champions Cup🚨 A decision will be made in July, and if they leave it would have profound implications across the game. @TimesSport thetimes.com/sport/rugby-un…

And you shouldn’t be in business if you can’t pay your staff a proper living wage
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@iancharris Agree. Easy commute. Would love to see the attendance today compared to Gloucs / Tigers usual home figures. I bet it isn’t too dissimilar

Karl Dickson interfering for that is just so ridiculous. Nothing definitive and a yellow card for that clear out is just spineless crap.

So I started dating this guy who kept saying he was a very private person. “No posting relationships online,” he said. “I just like to keep things between us.” I thought it sounded mature. Three months in he’s texting me every day, calling me “baby,” talking about future trips. The whole thing felt real. Then one night my friend sends me a screenshot. Tell me why this man had just posted engagement photos. I’m talking matching outfits, sunset pictures, holding hands in a field like a movie poster. The caption said: “5 years with my beautiful fiancée. Can’t wait to marry my best friend.” Five years?? Sir… I met you three months ago. So I messaged him and said, “Congrats on the engagement.” This man had the nerve to reply: “Oh… you saw that?” The audacity

At the weekend, I sat my wife and kids down and confessed to my crippling gambling addiction. I've never gambled in my life, but it's a explains where all our money has went a little better than my regular escort and powder binges.

In a season of rattling moments for Gloucester fans, seeing their arch rivals load up to make a semi final at their expense, only to barely bother in said semi final must rank high. I get the management of minutes, but does feel odd. #PREMRugbyCup
