I saw a review about the new series of GPUs. From a gaming perspective, the results are honestly a joke compared to the older series. It will be interesting to see the possibilities for AI with this new series, though, as that's where the bulk of the specs-wise improvement was.

My friend recently recommended that I try reading "The Beginning of Infinity" by David Deutsch. I'm absolutely loving it so far! I would recommend it if you're looking for a new book to read.

For me, the reason it matters whether these things “can reason” or are simply pretending to reason is entirely pragmatic. If it’s pretending then it will make mistakes that it wouldn’t if it wasn’t.

Striving toward a goal and gradually seeing it come to fruition is truly one of the best feelings you can experience in life.

I built a tool that can help open the black box of AIs. It is called ‘Programmed Conceptual Deconstruction’. It systematically breaks down any initial concept (Ci) into its constituent, related concepts through an iterative process until further decomposition is no longer possible. It is convenient since it reveals the complete network of concepts that an LLM might associate with the initial concept, which helps seeing the understanding that any LLM might have of any topic. The relationships between concepts are then visualized in a graph. A demonstration follows below.

i went to the app store looking for an app i wanted to transcribe audio using local models—all i saw was apps that had a paid subscription for this tiny utility app i wanted. so i went to claude, built the app in 15 minutes in xcode, hooked up the local transcription model, & loaded it on to my iphone. it took maybe an hour tops. better, i even customized the ux to my liking instead of the slop by the developer. remarkable.

This is fire. @OpenAI 's voice assistant just got me through a day in a hospital where NOBODY could speak english. For real this was the most compelling AI experience since AI became a thing. I got sick yesterday and my insurance company sent me to a nice new clinic, which is only for locals. Many people in Spain don't speak English but even if they did, expressing and understanding a medical/technical terms in a foreign language is not easy. I remembered I forgot to cancel my ChatGPT subscription, so I pulled up ChatGPT's advanced voice assistant, prompted to translate Polish to Spanish and Spanish to Polish and it worked flawlessly, exceptionally good in this context. So first I did it with the receptionist, then nurse, then doctor came in asking about my magic translation app (the nurse already told him). Overall it was amazing because the doctor was explaining everything in deep detail, this wouldn't be possible if we both spoke English. My usual problem with healthcare abroad is lack of the communication - it's not their natural language, they don't usually work in english so they limit the communication to minimum. It felt like the doc was so shocked by how well it works, he was even going into more detail than necessary. At the end he asked me "¿Qué aplicación es esa que está tan buena?" as he was so stunned how good it was. appreciation post @sama & team, awesome use case for AI here. gracias 🙏

Spent an entire hour today walking outside, talking to ChatGPT in Advanced Voice Mode about an essay I want to write. We went through all the fuzzy ideas in my head, clarified and organized them, explored some additional talking points, and eventually pulled everything together into a first outline and draft. This wasn't just a one-sided "hey, can you write a few paragraphs about x" prompt. It felt like a genuine, in-depth conversation and exchange of ideas with a true thought partner. Absolutely incredible. One of those rare, magical moments where software makes you feel like you’re living in the future.

🧪 Over the last few days, we've been working with @OpenAI to test their new Predicted Outputs feature in the chat completions API. In particular, we've been looking at code editing tasks. The results are quite compelling: - 2-4x faster response times than existing models while maintaining high accuracy. - Large file edits that took ~70s now complete in ~20s.
