While the billionaires get much richer, 60% of working class Americans struggle to afford food or housing. Millions are losing healthcare. Yes. The very rich should start paying their fair share of taxes. That’s why I support the California Wealth Tax on billionaires.

Spiking fuel prices from Trump’s war was the nail in the coffin for twice-bankrupted Spirit airline. FWIW, JetBlue merger failed because a judge, appointed by Ronald Reagan, said the deal was illegal. Republicans are desperate to shift blame from higher costs hitting families.

✈️ Spirit Airlines is the first US airline casualty of the Iran war. The shutdown announcement today (May 1, 2026) isn't really a Spirit story. It's an oil-shock story - and Spirit is the canary, not the exception. The trigger: Jet fuel prices have roughly doubled since the Iran war started. Asia/Oceania weekly average: $208.79/barrel (IATA). For a discount carrier with thin margins, that's not a headwind - it's a kill shot. → Spirit was already in its 2nd bankruptcy in 12 months (Nov 2024, Aug 2025). → $3.8B JetBlue merger blocked by federal court in early 2024. → A $500M Trump administration rescue (in exchange for up to 90% govt ownership) collapsed this week after bondholders and lawmakers walked. → Cash runway: "matter of days, not weeks" (CBS News). $250M left, with creditor liens. Why this spreads: Jet fuel is 20–30% of an airline's operating cost. When it doubles, weak balance sheets don't restructure. They die. Watch list - airlines already showing distress signals globally: 🇺🇸 Frontier Airlines - same ultra-low-cost model, similar fuel exposure, weak Q1 2026 numbers. 🇺🇸 JetBlue - already restructuring routes, lost the Spirit merger, margin-thin. 🇪🇺 Wizz Air, easyJet, Ryanair - Deutsche Bank analysts flagged carbon-allowance costs alone could rise to €2.25B by mid-decade. Add fuel doubling on top of that. 🇮🇳 Indian carriers - IndiGo and Air India are heavily exposed to ATF (aviation turbine fuel), which has surged with crude. Govt indicated bulk diesel/ATF hikes coming. 🌏 SpiceJet, Akasa - already sub-scale; an extended fuel shock at this level forces consolidation. The contagion isn't only airlines: → Tourism / hospitality - fewer routes, higher fares = lower volumes. Spirit served leisure markets. Hotels, restaurants, car rentals in those cities take the hit next. → Cargo / logistics - FedEx, UPS, DHL all face the same fuel curve. Watch for fuel surcharges to step up. → Refiners / OMCs - globally squeezed between high crude and politically frozen retail prices (see: India). → Petrochemicals - naphtha, ethylene, every plastic, every fertiliser. Oil at $125+ pushes the whole input chain higher. The pattern: Wars don't just disrupt the country at war. They redistribute pain across every sector that runs on cheap energy. Airlines are first because they're the most fuel-leveraged listed industry. They won't be the last. Spirit is what a $208/barrel jet fuel print does to a thin balance sheet. The next ones are already in queue. Sources: WSJ, Bloomberg, CBS News, IATA, Deutsche Bank.

Spirit Airlines died tonight at the hands of the socialist crusader, Elizabeth Warren She must be so proud to add another casket to her achievements. Tonight at 3am, Spirit turns off the lights. 14,000 jobs gone. 30+ smaller airports lose service. JetBlue offered $3.8 BILLION in cash to buy Spirit in 2022. Shareholders, flight attendants union, literally everyone voted yes. The combined company would have held 9% of the US market against a Big 4 that already owned 80%. For anyone who understands numbers: 9% isn’t a monopoly against 80%. Warren said no. She wrote letters. She pressured Buttigieg. Biden’s DOJ sued. A federal judge killed the deal in January 2024. Her argument: the merger would cost consumers $1 billion a year. Now look at her collateral damage she dusts under the rug. 510 pilots gone in the months after. 1,800 flight attendants furloughed in December. 14,000 jobs in 2023. 7,500 last week. Zero tonight. And that’s just the people in Spirit uniforms. Catering goes. Fuel guys go. Baggage crews, gate agents, airport coffee shops, hotels and rental cars in 70 cities Spirit flew to. Every airline job carries 3 more on its back. 40,000 people out of work because of one woman’s moronic crusade against the market. And the math ain’t mathing. Spirit abandoned 90 routes during the death spiral. Fares on those routes are up 14% on average. Oakland to Newark: $135 to $288. Fort Myers to San Juan: $92 to $219. Kansas City to Newark up 66%. That’s reality. Not some BS number from a “study.” So @SenWarren tell me how this saves the consumer money? Cheap carriers in a market drop fares 21% across the board. Southwest did this in the 90s and saved Americans $68 BILLION over 20 years. Warren killed it. That’s what moronic politicians led by socialism do. Then with her own blind arrogance, she tweeted Spirit’s collapse is “a Biden win for flyers.” A win. 14,000 people are reading termination letters tonight. And she’s taking credit. This is socialism in 2026. A senator who’s never made payroll thinks she knows how to run a market better than the people who own and work in the company. She saved you a billion on imaginary paper. She cost you ten times that in real life. She didn’t protect consumers from anything. 14,000+ will go from working to welfare. She will make sure to blame billionaires, hardworking tax payers, AI, capitalism and whatever monster they will make up tomorrow hiding under your bed. Higher taxes. Fewer jobs. More expensive everything. She called it a win. I hope you enjoy winning.

One of the reasons why I think they should front load the update. Don't release all their content, but release a lot of it. - 2-4 RaD refreshes - Gambit refresh - Shadow & Order activity - T5 exotics - QoL changes all dropping immediately would be more than enough until the next week's drop. Hell they could even open up with week 1 of Pantheon.

I strongly disagree. There are so many worse things Bungie can do, and I actually think content time gating is a good thing when done properly. If they were to do a raid AND dungeon each week, here are the positives: - 9-10 weeks of fresh reprisals at reset. - Player population is focused on the newly released reprisals, making LFG faster. - Content creators can space their content out more, resulting in more online interest in the game for longer. - Players cannot grind everything in a couple of weeks and complain there's nothing to do. Honestly I'd even be fine with them doing a raid OR dungeon each week and having 19 weeks of refreshes (maybe front load a bit and cut it down to 15 weeks). I think it's clear they're buying time, and reprisals like this are a great way to do it. If they buy themselves an extra 9-19 weeks to work on The Shattered Cycle, The Alchemist and the potential early in development Destiny 3, I think that is overwhelmingly a good thing.
Sys@KnownAsSys

The number 1 worst thing bungie could do with the RaD reprisals in June is to drip feed them week over week. Players are so sick of Bungie's antics right now that this WILL result in a number of players quitting the game forever. Please avoid this incredibly obvious pitfall!

Republicans and their extremist Supreme Court don’t want Black people to have the right to vote or be represented. This concerted power grab is dismantling democracy as we know it. We have to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act immediately.
VoteHub@VoteHub

LANDMARK DECISION — The Supreme Court has narrowed Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act with their decision in Louisiana v. Callais, opening the door to sweeping redistricting changes across the South that could erase up to 10 majority-Black seats and flip them from blue to red.

They can still vote, but their representation in Congress will basically be eliminated and what’s the point of a vote with no representation? Furthermore, without representation, there will be no one to advocate for Black and Brown people or share their concerns in Congress. Minority communities, schools, research into disparities, etc would be grossly underfunded or not funded at all, their concerns regarding legislation and policies will be ignored, and laws may unintentionally disadvantage them. Basically, it’s going back to Jim Crow era where minority people had no real representation in government.

The Trump Admin is seeking to mass deport thousands of Haitians, including 45,000 people in Ohio. Today, the Supreme Court heard arguments on Trump’s plan – which I voted to stop.  Denying Haitians asylum from violence would be another moral failure from this Supreme Court.

Parents, let me be extremely clear… If your child uses “retarded” or “faggot” in my classroom, they are out. And it’s a reflection on you as well. I didn’t mince my words. And if they learned it from you… shame. To the majority of parents who are raising your children to respect others, you’re doing it right, we see that, and appreciate you.
